50$ seems kinda high for a DLC for an indie game.
I mean I'll get a couple thousand hours out of it but still the most expensive indie DLC I've ever bought by far.

people have gotten too used to the "new" idea of DLC and forgot what real expansions were like. Used to be a real expansion got you nearly as much content as the base game and normally went for just under the base game price. $20-30usd when the base game was $40-50. But what we have here is a expansion that comes with a huge, free, 2.0 update and enough content that it ends up being more gameplay then the base game. Seems it ought to be worth a fair bit.

I would think everyone would be happy that they aren't like most other devs/publishers that will sell you the content piecemeal. You want elevated rails? That'll be $5, each planet is $10..

Expansion has lost its meaning pretty much, only "old" people like us knows what it used to mean. People will tell you that it is dlc since it is something you download (which it technically is).

I mostly play indie games (they're just more fun and flushed out than AAA games of the last decade) and this is by far the most expensive indie game. It's actually mostly the AAA games (or mobile but I'm not including those) that do "micro" transactions per individual item. Not saying the game or DLC isn't worth 50$, just feels weird paying that much for an indie game.

Its the same price as the base game and offers at least as much new content. I presume you've already bought the base game so whats the issue?

Expansions add significant new content, mechanics and playtime to the game.

$30-$50 for an expansion has been pretty normal for a long time now.

It is. Indie just means "independent" (from publishers and such).

it is. Its self published and private company with no ties to anyone else

Does it really matter if WUBE is an independent developer, or an AAA studio?

They have a smaller budget, but put out a game that is inarguably higher quality than most AAA titles. And now they are putting out an actual, honest-to-goodness expansion and people are complaining?

I for one prefer the whole "expansion" concept to the "DLC" concept. I would not want to spend $10 per new planet (there are 4 new planets), $5 for elevated rails, $5 for Quality, $2 for the new tier of power armor, $2 each for each new weapon, $3 for space platforms. Yet under the concept of DLC I could easily see those prices.

Now, which is cheaper, buying all those things piecemeal, or buying the single expansion? WUBE, please TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!!!!!

So don't buy it. Wube is pretty much the ONLY developer that has enough respect for themselves and their customers to not put their product on sale constantly. Either you feel the product is worth the money or you don't and you vote with your money/purchases. There is no reason to even discuss it when Wube has clearly stated their stance on the subject. Personally, I respect them for doing so.
