Control c does nothing for me, but thanks for the reply.
Maybe in a world without biters? . . How could that be any fun to play?
Some new players turn biters off or set them to peaceful to learn how to build before they learn how to fight. You can also set the sliders to reduce expansion rates, reduce evolution rates, set the starting area to maximum, and make sure that you have a green start that absorbs pollution.
If you are rushing construction bots you can manage to wait on military science even on default settings. You'll have access to AP Ammo and walls since they are required components for military science and with construction bots available you can set up automated repair of your defenses until you catch up on military research. Not recommended for a new player but certainly possible.
The idea of locking out blue prints until you reach construction bots for the first time is to force you to learn how to play the game. Very appropriate for a brand new player not really needed if you played the 0.15 or 0.16 builds or later. All that really changed after that was graphics and some production chains. Should be easy to adapt again. Certainly easier than learning from scratch.
The devs added automated tips to the game that are actually better than playing through the tutorials. Anything you can't immediately remember or is new from the last time you played should be thoroughly explained.
I'm certainly not better at the game than you. I just may have more hours invested. I have motor control issues from a stroke and am forced to play slowly because my fingers don't work all that well. I can just barely succeed on default settings but I succeed because I have been playing consistently. If I can do it you can. It shouldn't take you long to relearn the things you have forgotten.
dude - i just had to include that quote - it is both 100% true and 100% false
although i'm not sure what the equivalent of peaceful mode would be that would reverse the complete lack of technical bugs in the game...... maybe "Bethesda Mode"? :-)
