I would recommend going to the editor mode for your blueprints (possibly on top of console commands if you want things like unlocking all technologies and such of course) as it gives you tools you would need complex commands to replicate.
The ability to pause "time" without freezing the entire game is quite valuable when working with circuit network for example, you can also speed up or slow down time, set it to always render as day and so on as well.
You can at any time create sepparate save file and use "/editor" and "/cheat all" in it .
And when you are done , you just drop your new blueprint in global storage (or use string share of blueprint) and retrive it in uncheated save file .
You can also use NumpadDot button (or just button in editor UI) wich make one step of the game . You can easily look at how signals propogate through your circuit contraption step by step .
Additionally , if you play with mods and you are like me , add/remove mods on the fly - you can use "Someone's LUA-Console" . It allows to execute console commands without gaining achivements lock .
After all , when you play with mods you are already have sepparate achivements tracking file , so why not to have tool that allows you to have free console as well .
It allows you, by pressing Shift-X, to enter another world where you can build as much as you want and test out your designs. You can also spawn resources to test throughput and the like. It also does not end your achievement. Another bonus, or something terrible depending on how stable your factory is, is that time keeps running while you design so your infinite research is not interrupted. Of course this is not great if biters are chewing on your power poles.
