Gleba defending farms
Hi, I am getting super overrun on Gleba at the moment. Getting attacked by 20-30 Medium stompers with some Big stompers mixed in at a time. Got Tesla Turrets and Mines and Rocket Launchers mixed in at farms and still getting smashed. Any tips? :)

Import some tungsten and set up some arty to clear nests in range of pollen? They shouldn't grow as big then, same with biters.

The most effective defense is offense. If you're getting overrun and can't setup defense that works well enough at the moment, then just go out and do a little genocide.

The strategy would be to go around every swamp and lake, destroying any and all rafts while placing solar powered radars behind you as you go to keep an eye on things. -- If rafts are not within your spore cloud, you will not get attacked.

The expansion rate on Gleba is pathetic (when compared to Nauvis), so this will likely give you another +10 hours to figure things out. I would setup artillery and then you just defense your outposts instead of your farms.

I do teslas and rockets with priority set for big guys, and laser and gun turrets for mopping up. There are also roboports with contruction bots and repair kits close, all of which is necessary but still not enough to stop all assaults from getting through because stompers ignore almost everything and walk on through. It does get easier with research into turret damage, I think my rocket launchers do 200+960 each now which is pretty massive and enough to erase most stompers if they are belt fed ammo. But I also have the factory keeping a chest of each component in the build on standby for replacement. When you have a fully functional Gleba factory producing, it keeps the factory running better so it turns into a constant process of assault, repair and rebuild if you let them reach the spore cloud and aggro from all around.
god bless you Dec 2, 2024 @ 8:36pm
Research rocket turrets and higher stronger explosive as fast as you can. Rocket turrets is the way to defeat pentapods.
I go around my base and clean all enemies at beginning.

Clear out the spore cloud (either via artillery, spidertron or whatever other method). That's pretty much the only way to stop the big attacks. The attacks are bigger the closer pentapod nests are to the farms.

Everything on Gleba has like 50% laser resistance, don't use lasers.

They are probably one of the worst weapons in the game.

What matters is the damage you are doing to the target, not how much additional damage was resisted.

the main issue i have at gleba: the stompers kill your electric network quite fast leaving the turrets behind, so like others said, arty or other offensive strats to keep them out of the cloud help, otherwise have a good power wiring and multiple line of defenses

thats where quality substations are very helpfull you can plant them far behind turrets and the cant get really stomped untill the defence is full on overrun.

Really? You're doubling down on caring more about how much damage is "resisted" than the turret's ability to damage enemies?

I mean... he's not wrong...

Well, if you want to completely "cheese it", so far it seems wiping out nests, placing wall pieces there, and pieces of walls outside of the areas highlighted as attracting their attention (1 wall piece for so many steps) appears to permanently keep them away. It's likely not intended to keep them away seemingly permanently but its been working for days.

Unless you like doing defense, but I find it a nuisance to deal with glebas monsters.

You really don't need walls at all for cheesing it. If you push rafts far enough they will basically stop expanding.

Man unintentionally advocates for tesla turrets.
