It's like the game puts a "fun challenge" in front of you and then immediately turns around and pulls it out of the way, and tells you it's actually not fun so let's remove it entirely! It's like the moment you get cliff explosives, the whole entirely world is flat again, so what gives? No idea.
Basic coal liquefaction means you have access to cliff explosives as soon as you research them which is sooner than you'll need them.
Having to build differently is better than having to build the same way you built on Nauvis.
And getting cliff explosives feels real good due to the amount of effort it took to get there.
holy moly is it annoying to get rid of those.
i am resorting to carpet bombing, nukes and all other possible means to destroy them without any debris being left behind, but unfortunately none of those methods can be completely automated.
I have yet to experiment if true, but I have noticed, after unlocking cliff explosives, I can designate cliffs for deconstruction, and I wonder if robots will bring explosives to them?
It's the only way to do it in my opinion. Let the robot figure out how much cliff it can blow up with each explosive.
This is exactly how it works. In fact, the robots won't take it all the way to the cliff but instead get close to it and yeet it the rest of the way.
That being said, its not horrible on Vulcanus. You'll always have a large enough area to build a small base capable of bootstrapping science and everything else you need. After you get the research its literally a game of scaling up cliff explosive production to flatten the planet.
Remember, Vulcanus is essentially free resources, you don't have to worry about draining an ore patch too fast just to get rid of cliffs, or removing a section of defensive cliffs. Frankly I think cliffs help balance the planet a hell of a lot more then the big worms.
How old is your old?
Gleba I had way more issues with cliffs since I went there first and had no way to remove them. but you just need to be creative with your base design. even if you don't use blue belts, try to make at least a few blue underground belts so you can "jump" a huge distance when you need to, that kind of thing.
