Space platform request loops

How does the game handle it when there's a platform in orbit with active requests for the same item that the planet itself is requesting?

Does this cause a logistics loop with them both supplying the same item back and forth?

If the platform is requesting an item then it will not send that item to the planet.

If you're using request groups (you should) then it may be the case that a space platform is dropping off say, space science, while your cargo hauling platforms are using that same group that requests space science, causing Nauvis to send them back into orbit but to a different platform.

On the platform, you can set up specific requests to the system edge/shattered planet to stop this from being an issue.
