Does placeing thrusters behind each other lower effect of thrust?

With just the first row i hit 40Km/S, Now with second row im still hitting same speeds.

You tell us bro; you're the one in a position to experiment
DaBa Nov 12, 2024 @ 8:30am
Yeah, you seem to have an experiment ready to go. Play around with it and share the results!

Well i did increase after few tests to 45-46 Km/S. But expected it be higher. Current thrust is 12.7GN is. once reach planet. ill remove inner thrusters as see what happens.. will need increase weight to match though lol
dragonsphotoworks Nov 12, 2024 @ 10:20am
With inside thrusters removed thrust is now 6.3 GN. Ok after watching speed it hit.. 35Km/S.

And full thrust speed is now 50Km/S+ So it did help. But at twice the thrust I would of expected twice the speed. So either it does effect speed. Or.. thrust doesnt work way I thought.

And would take too much to rebuild ship to have all thrusters on outside. But I want to say it does have effect. Next test imma remove outer thrusters.

Apparently the width of the ship also affects how fast you can go. So longer and thinner ships will generally be faster, from what the technical people are figuring out.

Ya that part I knew from surfing forum. What I havent seen is some one do some thing similar to y design.

I’m still going with the tried and true borg cube design. :)

Ok with just inside ones speed is 35Km/s So guess it doesnt effect speed. So thats good to know :-) Can add more "modules" in line to increase speed. But still confused why double the thrust only gave me 15Km/s increase in speed. Fuel tanks hold enough for 2.5 round trips to fulgora. So fuel not issue. And each 7 thruster section has own fuel lines so throughput on fuel not issue.

Same its easiest to design. Also for traveling makes easier get and deal with astroids. If going to go wide to collect much as can... might as well go square :-) I wanted to make a ship looking ship but... kept turning out inefficient.

So I made a huge borg ship so can add new factories as need :-) And since square I can mirror it on both sides for redundancy.

Doubling the thrusters while keeping the same width and weight does not double the speed.
From 35 km/s to ~50km/s sounds about right to me in this scale. That is an ~40% increase. The ratio gets even worse the higher your speed already. That is what I experienced.

Ah ok then every thing is going as should then. Ok thank you for the replies all.

A ship of 130.000 tons, my god... 😅

Instead of worrying about the power of your thrusters you should be worried about changing the orbit of the planets with that mass.

(nice work btw)

I didn't even see that. Holy moly :D

I wish I could give you the exact formular. Sadly I haven't found it yet and all what I said was experimenting.

Set lot of construction just to foundations :-) I will likely increase size again to add a third set of thrusters. Though might not wont need speed for hauling as will have separate haulers for that.

Edit- Though if need more space for factories i will need expand.. lol
