Sourcing holomium ore
I wish there was a kovarex enrichment style circular production loop for holomium because right now im making so little of it compared to how much i need. Am I missing something? I get a lot of everything else, things i dont have much use for right now, and then basically none of the stuff I actually want. I know I can just expand the scrap gathering/recycling loop but I feel like all that would do was increase the problem of having everything else I dont want for a miniscule amount of help in getting holomium. Have I forgotten something about a different way to get more holomium?

I just really hate fulgora.

From what I've heard from others they seem to often just scrap everything else into nothingness just so that they can get decent amounts of holmium.

Also, one small hint: For casting the holmium plates you can use Foundries to benefit from their 50% productivity.

Holmium is just a trickle, to get more you need to claim extra islands.

I did do that, taking advantage of a common vulcanus W. Vulcanus my beloved.

I thought about doing it, but i just thought there had to be a better way, and decided to ask first. It feels so wasteful. I guess thats fitting for this planet but still, ):

and if you use quality, don't forget to also liquefy the higher rarity holmium
PunCrathod Nov 11, 2024 @ 3:15pm
Just build more recyclers to get more holmium and then throw the stuff you don't want back into the recyclers to get rid of them.

You have to be willing to throw away stuff you don't need on Fulgora rather than trying to hoard every bit of it for later. You can throw anything you don't need into a recycler. Base level stuff will just recycle back to itself, but less of it, so you're voiding any items you don't want.

The big islands have space to build, while the small islands have denser resource patches. So you'll need to use rail supports to link up small islands to feed your main island with more scrap. One good small island should provide enough holmium to research all the non-infinite Fulgora research and build a pretty decent supply of Fulgora-specific items. No reason to hesitate to throw away what you can't use. When you want to start delving into higher quality items, you may need some more scrap deposit islands since it increases your resource needs exponentially.

Use the Volcanus miners to make scrap patches last longer so it's less painful to churn through a lot of scrap. Use productivity modules anywhere you can unless you're doing quality instead. Eventually increase the quality of your miners to deplete patches even less, and the quality of your productivity modules. Use the foundry or electromagnetic plant for any recipe that allows it.

Am I missing something?
Set up a bunch of radars and you'll soon realize how many FREE resources are around you.

If you're ever afraid of running out of something, just remember that there's always another 30m scrap patch on an island, that productivity modules exist or that better quality/bigger drills consume less resources.

Setting up a basic factory on Vulcanus (not an advanced one that makes all the tungsten steel buildings) effectively doubles all your patches

If you feel to bad about wasting stuff make a few buffer boxes that will fill up before you start wasting it.

OR put quality in your recyclers and siphon off a trickle of highest possibly quality items while destroying everything

Not to mention what quality Big drills do - rare triples, epic quadruples, and legendary does 12.5x.

i havent had an opportunity to really deep dive into quality yet, I still only have rare quality access, and only quality 2 modules, most not even of good quality themselves. I do get some quality stuff, like rare assemblers 3, quality beacons, quality quality modules, and quality on my inserter arms. Quality is just kind of a pain to set up and I havent made the time or space for it.

Sir, this is a landfill.

what if i need a couple hundred thousand green rarity somethings later?

I can't be the only one who is amused by putting everything in fields of storage chests.

Scaling up rocket production gives a hole to throw tons of resources into.
Rocket fuel will eat up any solid fuel and when the solid fuel runs out making bulk rocket fuel will eat any and all ice you can provide for water. Making LDS (and yes you will need to make them once you start mass launches) will eat any and all copper and steel letting you break down circuits. I've started exporting reinforced concrete from Fulgoria to pave over Gleba and nauvis and let me tell you Holmium is the ONE thing I ain't lacking.
Oh and this lovely gentleman has made a set up that outputs Holmium and voids everything else

Use productivity modules in the buildings processing the ore.
The_Pastmaster Nov 12, 2024 @ 4:49am
Ship large quantities of scrap to a scrap yard to recycle into stuff, sort out the holmium ore and send the rest into an annihilation loop.
AlphaPillow Nov 20, 2024 @ 2:35pm
The hardest part about fulgora is letting go. Recycle into the void anything you don't need. There is always more scrap.
