How do you protect base from massive stomper petapods?

They come together with strafers.
I don't think 2 or even 3 layers of gun turrets will work.
NO idea..

50% resistance to physical damage and 15k health means that even uranium ammo would find it a bit hard to take them down quickly.

On the other hand, there is no resistance to fire or explosion, so flamethrower turrets and rocket turrets should do pretty well against them.
The tesla turrets from fulgora stuns enemies for a short amount of time, making them easier to take down as well.

Strafers are easier to kill but potentially more dangerous due to their ability to trow wrigglers directly at your defenses, so wiring the turrets so gun turrets take care of those instead of the other turrets could be a good idea.
https://imgur.com/a/kObbN9D works pretty good with artillery that keeps the pollen area clear then no big attacks come.
with the tesla towers you need to watch out for friendly fire because the attack can jump to your own buildings thats why there is the second row of turrets they are for the small and ranged guys the tesla turrets just target the big pentapods.

This: Gleba was a pain until i set up artillery there.
A couple rocket turrets and a cluster of laser turrets around each artillery position does the trick for me.

flamethrower: no oil
tesla: not unlock
artillery: not unlock.

I need a solution for early stage :steamsad:

Rocket turrets seem to be your best bet then.

Wasn't that the screenshot for explosive rockets?
Normal rockets are cheaper and do 1/3 more damage to single targets.
They get a damage increase starting from "stronger explosives 3", going up much faster than all other explosives from there.

People have said things on the forum that make it sound like you do damage for each leg you hit. I would need to do testing to fell for sure whether or not it's true.

jea the bolt travels through the legs and the torso and does dmg at every jump thats why tesla and flamethrowers are very effective against them because they have several hitboxes.

I use the Tesla, and see the electricity jump from body to the five legs, giving six times more damage to the pentapods. The Tesla are incredibly powerful against them, especially since they have no electricity resistance and it stuns them.

As others have said: use tesla turrets. they work amazing against the pentapods.
Once you start getting into the medium sized ones i would sugest augmenting your Teslas with rocket turrets tough. The Teslas can stil deal with those with ease, but stuff will start to get damaged and you may lose a powerpole or two.

if you import 1 barrel of oil then you can produce infinite oil on gleba using the coal liquification recipe. and yeah Flamethrower for sure are the way to go untill artillery

The problem is that I have not visited those planet.
It will be too late to unlock those techs
Before that, I will be crushed by spiders.
Gleba is my second planet after Nauvis.

With such limited techs, I have to kill them one by one manually.
Save game -> lead only one stomper into trap location and afford those lost of gun/rocket turrets -> try to kill next one.

However, they usually come together.
The lost could be double or triple.
It's ok. Still acceptable if I can clean the rafts after this boring process.

But the spawn speed is a little fast now.
I couldn't get close enough to their rafts.
This strategy will not be practicable soon.
