Thanks for the reply. I asked because some games (e.g. EU4) don't require you to buy DLC for each player in the lobby. I've also seen the opposite, so I thought I'd ask because I haven't played the steam version of Factorio, but I plan to.
The game can do multiplayer without being used on Steam. WUBE has their own server for showing, and sorting, games. Even better, with friends you can just share the IP of the server (either one you've rented or your own game is you want) and the friend(s) can direct connect and Steam, WUBE, and the rest of the world, including griefers, will never even know that the MP game is happening.
