Fulgora, rails, lightning

Hello-
I've been playing on Fulgora for a few hours, and I'm of course realizing the importance of having a rail network here.

I have a question. If I build (elevated) rails between the islands, will the train tracks (or the trains themselves) get damaged by the lightning?

Nope rails are spared from being struck

Afaik they are immune, which they should be anyway.
