Concrete on Aquilo
Am I missing something or is there absolutely no way to make concrete on or in space near Aquilo? The thing I need to place absolutely everything has to be shipped in, and I can only launch 100 at a time from a rocket? When I saw iron and copper were missing I was like "oh, well I can drop them from space, this'll be a neat hybrid space base where I have to manage the big asteroids over time which will be good prep for the long journey to follow", but no. It seems like you're not supposed to have a self-sufficient base here. Am I missing something?

As per its briefing in Tips and Tricks, the only normal resource here is crude oil. Thus, you have to ship basically everything in.

What you are supposed to have is a transport ship you can set to just travel between other planets and Aquilo endlessly with self-maintenance. Filling a platform with a couple thousand concrete doesn't take long, i use only 4 rocket silos on Nauvis. Each have 4 productivity-2 modules of rare quality and 2 speed beacons affecting them. That has been faster than i need so far for any orbital transfer.

I've got 2 continuous rockets on Nauvis, so I can handle the shipping, slowly, but usually the fun is taming a hostile world into a safe haven, and it's kind of a buzz kill to not be able to do that. I just want to get the 10k cryo packs or whatever and get the hell out, and that doesn't feel very Factorio to me.

aquillo is just frostpunk :D no chance of survival, only with heavy strategic planing

correct me if i can't math again but couldn't you just ship 500 bricks per rocket and turn that into 1000 concrete with space iron and water from ice?

i'm too lazy to run numbers atm, but don't forget: you need to adjust your space platform to your needs of "concrete produced per trip" which increases platform size, build material, fuel usage, depending on "how fast" all of this should work. Dunno if its worth the cost of "a few rockets"
but hey, if you wanna run the numbers, i'm also somewhat exicted ^^

Actually, you can make concrete in space. A foundry can turn iron ore and calcite into molten iron. That molten iron, plus some water, can be turned into concrete by another foundry. I haven't ever done it, personally, but it is possible.

You forget that stone brick is also a component in concrete, even in the foundry recipe. You cannot source stone from space.

you should get lots of free concrete from scraps in Fulgora. even worrying where to store them. and from Fulgora you can directly go to Aquilo

Build more rockets. Build more platforms.

If you're finding Aquilo hard, that's the game's way of telling you that you need to beef up your interplanetary logistics.

You need holmium for production on aquilo anyways and you'll get concrete as a by-product of making that.

Most of my planets have 30+ rockets on them. I have probably shipped 1 million concrete to Aquilo and turned it into a huge base just because I could. They said it couldn't or shouldn't be done, so I did it just to show em. They told me I should not built a nuclear power plant there because I could have abundant rocket fuel for boilers. I built a gigantic gigawatt nuclear power plant just to show em. Aquilo is now a very busy place with a lot going on and now approaching 10 rocket silos on it. Aquilo supplies fusion technology to the solar system. Foundations by the tens of thousands are built and exported from Aquilo. State of the art computer chips are exported too.

I take my pillow, and lie down on Aquillo.
god bless you Dec 30, 2024 @ 12:37am
There is no way to get stone around Aquilo.
You should have many concrete on Fulgora.
I make reinforced concrete from scrap byproduct.
I paved it on all planets without spending any stones from stone miners.

Yes to Fulgora reinforced. You're going to end up with mountains of stone and steel plate It's faster to produce a product you'll use than recycle

I actually built my Aquilo factory as a full blown main bus.
Once I get everything up to speed for legendary buildings, I'm going back there and remodeling the whole thing as a city block train grid. Just because.
