I do recommend having a bit of a stockpile and quite a few turrets(5-10) for up to medium worms, 2 things to note are that at least medium worms have a fast regen had one fully regen from almost dead by the time it reached my base so you need to sustain fire on them till they die.
And once Artillery hits the worm the worm will change directions to target the Artillery and they will leave their "Zone" to do so.
the lightning bolts jump between the individual segments, wich massively boosts the towers damage.
Simple, easy and doesn't need any new tech.
