You could try to type the following:
/c game.player.surface.peaceful_mode = true
What it should do is turn all enemies peaceful, meaning they'll only attack you if you attack first.
In the full game you can totally remove enemies if you want, make them peaceful (as above), make them tougher WHEN CREATING A NEW WORLD/MAP. But in the demo, IIRC, you don't even get that option.
The "tutorial" has a weirdly high focus on combat compared to the normal game mode and the maps are limited in size (and resources as a result), which can get in the way of enjoying the whole factory building.
Press on the map for full map screen.
Press the icon for pollution (hover around until you find it).
If pollution touches an enemy base, it will send units sooner or later.
Tip: save your game (aka ignore your base getting destroyed), do you have a car? If yes, drive around to explore the map. The devs hid various hidden boxes. Iirc the 5th stage even has laser hidden away.
The laser use electricity, and don't need bullets.
So once you know the place, reload save
Create enough boilers and such to have enough juice.
Mass produce whatever electrice power pole you can. Yep, create a loooong lone, until the laser are just next to the enemy base of chose (don't put them to close or enemy building will destroy your laser).
Use the laser as a defence against mobil enemies. Aka, when they want to attack you, run into laser range to save bullets. Atrack enemy building that attack. Once said enemy building are dealt with, move laser closer so they destroy the building, saving you more ammo.
Lastly, consider buying the full game if you really like building. You can chose no enemy attack. Or a so called peaceful mod (enemy exist but won't attack you unless you attack them 1st), and of course, more building. Like robots to mass build. You said enemies destroyed the pips? If you have spare pipes, not will replace/rebuild said pipes.
Also, i strongly sugest to get rid of the enemy. Just stop whatever you are doing, completely. Aka stop producing Pollution! So the enemies won't attack you.
In the mean time, create ammo bullet, and turrets to have enough.
Also, if you have the car. Car has a machine gun (?) on the roof
It's way better then the pistol. (and yes, driving it it's a nightmare)
My strategy is to not start attacking straight away in that tutorial, yeah don't do it.
