Vanilla doesn't support flipping because some buildings don't support flipping (especially oil)
and rotating works, it was just a setup of over 200 belts lol. so it was faster to just rebuild it from the standard 4 lane balancer blueprint, and then just place the other belts i added after over again. lol.
Here's some examples of buildings that cannot be mirrored:
Oil Refineries
Chemical Plants
Pumpjacks
For these the inputs and outputs are set in stone and can't be changed. They could make it so you can swap them, but then you have the following problems.
Here's some examples of buildings who if you mirrored them actually change their functionality:
Rail signals
Chain signals
Train stops
If you mirrored these, suddenly using these blueprints, trains are driving on the wrong side of the tracks and the blueprints aren't lining up right with your rail network.
I think this is the reason why this hasn't been added to vanilla yet. It isn't an easy problem, and probably not worth the effort to work out.
That being said, if you exclude problematic items, a mod that does this wouldn't be an issue.
GDIW(Gosh darnit water): Allows you to flip the input/outputs of fluid-using buildings like oilrefineries or water treatment plants (angels mods).
Blueprint flipper: Adds tools for blueprints...one of which was mirror blueprint.
But, like I said, no clue if those mods still exist OR work seeing as I never bothered checking up on them when they stopped working for me.
