Trash Slots (Simple Complaint)
I just researched the character logistic trash slots, and I have to say I'm really disappointed. The robots only seem to take away items they need to satisfy Requestor Chests. It would be much nicer if they took away everything and stored it in Storage Chests if they are not needed elsewhere.

I haven't had this issue. My logi robots are hauling away my wood, which I use for nothing.
I'm assuming you have empty storage chests in logi range, in which case I'm not sure what is wrong.

Yeah, that's not how they work. Bots will take anything in your personal trash and put it into storage. You might not have enough bots. I've noticed that taking out your stuff has a slightly lower priority than other things.

That's disappointing. Logi bots are expensive and I already have a couple hundred running my factory.

A solid logistics network is a huge investment to get running with any kind of alacrity. It's not unheard of to have over a thousand bots in service, several thousand if you want to eliminate belts altogether. That's either going to take a long time, or a massive assembly to get the numbers you need.

Make sure the storage chests are lgoistic storage chests (Tan/peach in color) and are within the ORANGE section of the logistics network. If in the green, they'll be used only by construction bots deconstructing/constructing things. In the orange, they'll be used by all bots as needed. Your bots will not grab out of your invintory's trash slots as well unles syou are in the orange sections of your logistics network. All orange sections must be connected to fuction over large bases.

Get robot construction automated as soon as you get the technology.

Iv'e also never had this problem. I got a own part in my factorios with storage chests (you should always have one aviable or your robots can get stuck)

And i have also made it so if i have old stuff that can be used somewhere i have made sure there are reqester chests for it. On my trasport belt construction site i got reqester chests putting in the older conveyors belts into the assamblers to make better ones. Same with other stuff. Alien artifacts is also something i put in trash slots because i dont need them in my inventory. They are then delivered where it needs to be. You just need to get to know the logistic system first.

Also burnable trash is automatically sent to the old coal powerplant (im using full solar) but i did not remove the steam engines and boilers when i stopped using them. Instead i got reqester chests asking for wood and other burnable crap that i dont need to get burned and turned into a little power.

Wut? That's the one and only sensible way, of course running the factory has priority.

(Im new and still reading up on all the Factorio details) So the way to deal with the "trash" itself once removed from you character by bots is to have it either delivered to Requester Chests (set to specific items) which can be set up to feed the contents back into the production of higher quality items AND/OR have the "trash" be moved to the Storage Chest where it will sit indefinately. Is that a correct understanding of how and where your Trash will go?

As I write this my mind started to find a possible answer for myself: If Requesters are near by the Bots will go to the Storage Chests and take out specified items and take them to the Requesters, essentially sorting out waste themselves this way? Am I understanding this right? [Of course all chests being in the Logi-Zone of the Ports.]

Go towards the storage chests so the bots don't have to fly over the entire map, don't have a gigantic logistics network area so the robots don't have to fly over the entire map, put trash into a passive provider chest instead so you don't have to wait for the bots.

Yep exactly. Taking from storage has higher priority than taking from passive providers.

Why would he ? Seriously, just stop telling people they need to do stuff your way when they want an answer to a question..

I've never had a problem with this. There are always tons of idle logi bots, and when I put stuff in my trash they fly straight to me and pull the stuff out and take it directly to the nearest Storage Chest.

Make sure you have enough Storage Chests. Also make sure you have idle logi bots. Your factory comes first, they'll only empty your trash if there's nothing else for them to do.

put trash into a passive provider chest instead so you don't have to wait for the bots.
So your fix for trash slots is ... not using trash slots at all?

Which is not to say that they need fixing - trash slots work just fine if you follow the basic guide and/or work things out yourself.

Since you have eyeballs you surely noticed this is just 1 of several suggestions to alleviate what may have created the false impression of the OP.
