Since the campaign is minimal at this point, the entirety of the game ends up being your own randomly generated maps. And since co-op is exactly like single-player (with lag), it's better with others.
Sorry I know very little about this game. What do you mean about the campaign and randomly generated maps? Are you suggesting we play the campaign together in co-op (is that even possible?) or just do "random / custom maps"? thanks much
The majority of the games replayability is chosen fron "new game" at the main menu. You create a random, infinite size map with the settings for how much ore there is and biters etc chosen at creation. Then you can build and research and explore and expand to your hearts content. It's like... playing a game of minecraft. No real goal, just build a base and expand.
This second option can be started as a multiplayer server by choosing "multiplayer" from the main menu. You can even start a game as single player, save, then load THAT game in the multiplayer side of things.
Multiplayer works great, essentially the same as singleplayer.
You could experience some lags, as in any other game.
Keep in mind that the game is not finished yet and maybe needs some optimisation.
But there are a lot of people playing multiplayer together and i dont often hear problems.
They might be some, but not many :)
I absolutly recommend you guys this game. If you are unsure there is afaik still a demo you can download and test. Though no multiplayer in the demo :P
I hope i could help.
Have fun :)
I see some port forwarding is required etc... Is that always necessary? And is it necessary for both sides?
Can you still launch the ship to "end" the game in a custom game? Or is there any goal at all in a custom game?
You could download shortcut softwares like evolve or hamachi but they delay your connections and can cause more lag than necessary.
When you first know how to open ports if possible with your internet provider system it will be easy cake. You dont need a degree in computer systems to do it
Thanks much Zefnoly! Very much appreciate your help, though I am a CCNA so it's no issue hehe ;), was just curious if it was necessary to do for both sides and in all situations. Glad it's only the host =) Thanks again
