Actually really close to how it went.

Little Jimmy is called Michal (kovarex) and wanted to become a developer at Mojang[www.minecraftforum.net] (to help with Minecraft).

They didn't want him (or rather never replied) so he started his own project. He then created an Indiegogo campaign which was successfully funded in 2013.

That is why i stopped playing minecraft. I was tired of the uphill battle of gathering resources. I wanted machines to do the work so i could keep building.

Should be themod-pack FTB/Tekkit if I am not mistaken (could be wrong though).

Little jimmy should of played modded minecraft (look up feed the beast and try ftb evolved)
however as a heavy duty minecrafter, server admin and modpack creator(not the one i recommended but craft-reborn on the curse voice pack....ftb evolved has better support for a newbie though) i have to say i really like Factorio, not played much yet but its damn good.
