Recycling old assets
I completed the tutorial and I may have missed this along the way but is there a way to recycle old assets like burner miners and so on? I've upgraded to the electric gear and would like to recover any salvage if I can.

Otherwise if I cannot, how do I delete old assets?

in the early game, you could deconstruct a bunch of stupid stuff you built to avoid having to deal with the nest that's right on top of the stuff you now need. That's one reason I can think of. That mission where you build the train is full of things you could deconstruct to make your life easier.

However, I am aware those are truly crappy reasons. If you are building stupid stuff, it's because you are doing something stupid, and the game should punish for that, which it does. It's a beautiful, utopian world!

a recycling plant could be a nice addon and research theme.

recycling can also used to generate fuel material, sweeden burns it's garbage and creates electricity they also buy garbage from other countries as they burned most of their garbarge.

factories that create suger from sugercanes are using the bagasse (left over from the curshing process) to burn and create electricity and some small countries entire electricity is generated thus

Most objects that become obsolete tend to do so because they can be upgraded later. Otherwise, why would you want to recycle a lot of objects? There's typically no need.

Oh well I guess because a few people say they can think of a good use for a recycler then I guess the rest of us who have ideas don't get to use one.

First off dev's please don't listen to the few who cant think of awesome things to do with recyclers, many of us could do amazing things with them.

Here is an easy one, convert the resources into a transfer thing so you send less objects to their destination (space savings). Then de-construct the thing to use said parts as needed for other things....

Just because you can't think of a use for something doesn't mean its useless.

I guess you mean space saving on the belt / train? This save have a cost in your example the cost will be time x2. Time to construct + time to deconstruct.

Something similar allready exist as mods :

packaged ( crated ) https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=13303#p89386 convert 100 of same item into 1 box.

More like what you want :

recycling plant https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=87&t=10247 convert back item

Yes, the obvious use for a pile of scrap iron, copper and steel is to burn it to generate power.

I think we can agree that Factorio is a game about building complex factories and assembly lines. Getting rid of all of the game by making it preferable to ship raw materials (sorry, "recycled speed modules") seems like an unwise move.

First off dev's please don't listen to the few who cant think of awesome things to do with recyclers, many of us could do amazing things with them.
Again, you are getting upset by a complete non-issue. Over the period of the game, you will maybe collect six types of items that become obsolete and could be recycled:
* 5 burner inserters
* the starting pistol
* heavy armour
* shotgun
* steel furnaces

Everything else can either be disposed off (e.g. wooden power poles can be burnt in a furnace) or upgraded (furnace -> boiler, yellow belt -> express belt), etc. We are talking about quite a bit of work to reclaim maybe 200 iron plates over the course of a game.

Really, that's the only things you can think of to use a recycler for, getting rid of the starter parts?

It's a game about creativity and building factories so you want less factory tools?

Again, just because you can't think of uses for it don't try and limit tools for the rest of us because of your limited creativity....

Not really an issues as I found a mod that kind of works, but I would rather it be stock.

I was wondering about this. It would be cool if this was a thing, so if you had, say, extra teir one assembly machines, you could dissasmble them.
Emmote 2016 年 3 月 31 日 下午 12:29
If you have extra tier 1 assembly machines, upgrade them to tier 2...?
