Try Factorio for FREE (how/where to download the demo version)
This is a free publicly accessible demo. It contains only a subset of what is already available in the alpha. Purpose of the demo is to teach the very basic game mechanics and let the player decide whether he / she is interested in more.

You can either download the Demo directly from the store page (there will be a button on the store-page, even though the widget below shows the full price)
http://store.steampowered.com/app/427520
here on Steam or from the website.

Stable Version[www.factorio.com]
The stable version has fewer features than the "experimental version", however it contains no (known) bugs.

The experimental version has more features than the "stable version". There might be some nasty bugs. Use on your own risk. Your computer probably won't explode though :).

I will suggest that to the developers.

64bit windows .exe and .zip experimental demo were both corrupt for me. When it won't install, well that's truly experimental. lol

That is interesting. I will forward your report to the devs. Have you tried a different version?

Also which OS are you using?

Just downloaded the stable .zip, and it works fine.

I cannot used WASD as the main movement keys in any game. I downloaded this demo (tried both) and set WASD to Left Mouse Button in Controls. I've watched videos where I see they are using the mouse to move around BUT in the demos when I set WASD to LMB the character ONLY moves upwards and diagonally to the right regardless of where I click on the map. What am I doing wrong? I cannot buy the game if I can't do most things with the mouse. Thanks!

The game only supports moving your character with the keyboard. Can you link a video where they are moving with the mouse?

Actually I'm only guessing they are using the mouse as I can see their arrow cursor moving ahead of the character and each time the arrow moves in another direction (I''m guessing they are moving their mouse and clicking) the character moves that way. In the Video selection above watch Dad's Gaming addiction (DGA Plays: Factorio - Steam Version (Ep. 9 - Gameplay / Let's Play) where a few minutes into it he starts a new game and is moving the character like mad.

Also, if you can't use the Left Mouse Button instead of WASD why does it let you change it to LMB n Controls?

Please paste the link of the video. By right-clicking it and clicking "past the URL for the current position" we don't have to manually search for the part you are talking about.

Thank you for giving the exact position of the video.

I have to disappoint you - he uses the keyboard to move.

The character just stops moving as soon as you deconstruct a building or mine a ressource manually.

That is what looked like the character walking towards the courser and then stopping.

Thanks for checking, and not to argue, but the only reason I brought it up is that later in the video he goes far away to chop trees and then brings the character back a long ways where it doesn't stop for "deconstruct a building or mine a ressource manually" and he's moving to right, then up, then left and all along the character is following that arrow. So, what is that arrow if not the mouse cursor? Why would the arrow be there for a keyboard command? Anyway, it's your game and I'm sure you know best but when the Controls let me set it to LMB I figured it would work. Oh, well. Thanks again!

He is just always moving the mouse-courser in front of the character for some reason.

"deconstruct a building or mine a ressource manually"!

What I meant by that is, that if you move and keep "Right-Mouse" pressed the character will stop as soon as the courser hovers over a patch of ore or something to deconstruct - even if you still press a movement key.
