I need graphics settings guide for old PC
I need to know what settings in Graphics section should I change if any, for the game to run fastest in this computer. Thanks very much in advance.

Specs
CPU Brand: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5300 @ 2.60GHz
Windows 10 (64 bit)
NVIDIA GeForce 9400 G
DirectX Driver Version: 21.21.13.4201
Desktop Color Depth: 32 bits per pixel
Monitor Refresh Rate: 60 Hz
Display Resolution: 1024 x 768
Primary VRAM: 1024 MB
RAM: 2046 Mb
And using an old HDD 250GB

Exact questions bellow, if you don't know the answer, kindly move on to another thread:

There is usually lag with biters or too many bots running around, how should these settings be adjusted for best performance:
1. Vsync on or off?
2. Atlas size big or small?
3. Texture streaming on or off?
4. Flip model on or off?

Does this GPU even support dx 10.1 to start this game ? If it starts it up at all it is more then likely running using software rendering with WARP so the experience especially with that CPU would be far from great.

As for settings everything at lowest, if you want the best performance.

With only 2gb of ram chances are you won't be making much of a factory before you run out of memory.

I'm somewhat surprised that even Win 10 runs on the computer. Still, the RAM is going to be a major bottleneck, as PunCrathod stated. I've ignored Win for a while now, but I have a vague memory of Win, around Vista I think, doing something to allow you to add RAM using a USB thumbdrive. I'm sure it's going to be a much worse latency, but if it still exists in Win 10, it might let you get a slightly larger base with double-digit UPS.
If you haven't already thought of it, I'd make sure nothing else is running. That includes Steam. Get a copy of the DRM-free version from Factorio's website and use that to play. Maybe even go offline and stop the anti-virus and all the Windows defender stuff, and stop Windows from indexing the system. Every bit of RAM and processing power is going to be precious when trying to play the game on your system, and anything else is getting in the way of that.

The USB ram thing was a marketing gimmick. Unless you had a particularly bad HDD you would get more performance by just using pagefile(swap) on your HDD instead of the usb. And neither of those options are fast enough for real time applications. You will be counting how many seconds(or even minutes) each frame takes instead of frames per second.

Solid advice on how to get the most ram available for factorio tough. It might get you far enough to launch a rocket. If you disable the replay feature, disable biters, turn up the resources and limit the map size you can probably increase the amount of factory until you run out of ram.
Wow, a Pentium machine? That's pre-potato, good luck with that mate, I would be interested to see if you get the game to run in any playable fashion.

15-16 year old processors, might be time for an upgrade to be able to play more modern games. I know this doesn't answer the question, but I don't think there is a way to answer the question, other than saying the game likely won't launch, let alone run.

That setup would barely support CoH1.

The only guide to make the game run for you is this:

Get dressed on, go to shop and buy literally anything modern, even premade setup.

You are not only not meeting minimum requierments, you are about 10 times below them.

There is no setting that would make the game run for you above 5 FPS.

Yeah, that whole rig is almost 20 years old. It's not an old PC, it's a relic. :o

get the biggest ram your system supports , jank a Bios update on it (if you still get any for this ) switch the powersetting on high and check the stationary use box

update the drivers (if you get some) newer is mostly better

turn off ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and all the useless decoration BS this Game have

and for those who wonder .. every windows uses way less ram as you might think ....

My guess is 4x single thread. Multi thread more like 40x :)

That's what I'm asking, what is considered lowest? because lowering some bars may decrease performance instead.

Guys, I've played hunderds of hours already, with only ping issue (not related to pc performance) during multiplayer. If don't have a logical answer to how to adjust game's settings for best performance, just don't comment.
