2.0 price?
Hoping that the 2.0 update is not a paid DLC

There are two parts, an update which is 2.0 and a paid expansion that was estimated byu the devs to be about the same price as the base game (the thing with planets and stuff).

For the sake of clarity: the expansion is expected to be the same price as the base game because it's supposed to have the same amount of content.

Will there be expansion Early Access?
Fel Dec 18, 2023 @ 3:51pm
The devs said no to that when the expansion was still a mystery to all of us (outside of knowing they were working on it).

Splitting the community is not a good move. I think everyone will leave the base game.

If it was a game that is mostly about multiplayer then sure, but both experiences will be sufficiently different to warrant people playing both anyway.

And if we go that way, modding already splits the community quite a bit anyway but the game is much stronger thanks to allowing modding like that.

Most of the people that want mods (which is likely the majority of the player base) will want the expansion. If it splits the community the part left behind will be a tiny sliver.

Fel has a pretty good response, but I wanted to add that this was factored into the dev's plans. One big expansion instead of a bunch of little DLCs, everyone gets the 2.0 update, and the expansion is essentially implemented like an overhaul mod (that you have to pay for).

Really, it was either split the playerbase to some degree or never have another major content drop. IMO, they made the best choice for the future of the game.

This is a single player game there's no community to split. Did people talk like this when expansions like Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction released?

I pay any price that is below diablo 4 price tag ;)

I feel like the dev on this game should get paid for their hard work so I would be fine with paying for the expansion. As for y'all that think it should be free just eat some ramen for a few days instead of overpriced fast food and you can save the money.

Factorio most definitely has multiplayer - almost all of my playtime has been with friends.

And yes, yes they did. https://www.purediablo.com/forums/threads/community-split.171783/

I've played this game for so many years (and so many hours) that the original $30 I paid for it is ridiculously cheap. I'm more than happy to trust the devs with another $30-$35 dollars.

The total for the base game and expansion would be $70, the Diablo 4 price tag :)
