How "Idle" is this game?
It looks interesting, but my main question is, how much of an "idle" game would it be? I like to have something running in the background while I do homework and other stuff. If you can't tell from the time I have in Clicker Heroes.. Thanks!

Yeah, I was not expecting clicker related, but it is safe to leave the game open without anything bad happening, or does it require constant attention? Thanks for the snappy response!

Bitters can attack you but you hear distinct alarms when they do and you can set up automation to depend yourself when the bitters attack, so it can be automated and if you set the game to peaceful you can fully leave the game on and running while you do IRL things

play with peaceful-mode on and you can go afk 24/7. ;)
you will need manual action to expand your base and upgrade btw, but your base can function on its own while you do things in the backround

You can't really leave this game running in the background and "play" it that way. The game does require constant "playing" if you actually want to advance.

I mean, you can set up an Iron Mining/Smelting Factory and just have that produce Iron Plates for as long as you want, but if you want to make Circuit Boards, or Steel, or anything else your gonna have to spend time to make a new system/modify your existing one. plus there are the bugs.... if you don't react to them ever... they will eventually wittle down your defenses and destroy your entire base/kill you.

that could potentially take a while though, and they can be shut off with peaceful mode

but he can amass all the resources he wants, just not automatically progress

There is always something to do and with the biters being able to attack I wouldn't leave it running in the background. There is no point unless you want thousands of hours of ingame time to appear for when you leave one of those reviews saying "the game is ok".

Without alien bases you can't progress to T4 on the tech tree. Since it requires things alien buildings drop. I am not sure if they changed this for peaceful or not. it's been awhile since I played.

Once you build ~200 blue chips you can effectively just go afk.

You can turn on/off peaceful mode anytime you want via the console so biters attacking when you let the game sit to build resources (or while attention is just elsewhere) isn't really an issue. I'm often watching TV shows and movies while playign the game. Or checking various forums, including this steam discussion area.

Just turn on peaceful mode, do whatever while your factory runs, turn back off peaceful mode if you want to defend against enemies.

Whilst you could keep the game running overnight (to build up resources I guess?) I don't think that there is ever any point in doing so - when I am playing, there is always something to do or some part of the factory to tweak. Instead of passively waiting for, say, a steel stockpile ot build up you are far more likely to actively add more mines, smelters, and so on.
