You can check my profile, you will see I got tons of hours on factorio. I simply hate it when games bring out dlcs with stuff that should be in the main game. For Rimworld, childrens should had not been locked behind a DLC. Feels like it should be a base feature.
I do get it, economic times are hard, but if you go full greed, it thends to kill you.
It will also have about the same amount of content as the base game. Not everything in the 2.0 update is locked to Space Age, as you've clearly demonstrated that you've seen.
What's there not to understand? Also, why would the expectation even be that the expansion content was going to be FREE? What do you mean "stuff that should be in the main game"? Space age will be brand new content, not something that is "supposed to be in the base game"...
Isn't it sorta making money from someone else idea?
There used to be a mod for childrens in Rimworld, but when the DLC that has children came out, how funny, the mod breaks.
How about, instead coming here completely ignorant on the subject, not knowing anything about the DLC, what's going to be in it and why is it similar subject matter to Space Exploration mod, just go and read the blog posts about the DLC thus far... I guarantee most, if not all the questions you're asking here will be answered and this discussion will not be necessary.
And if you go through all of it and still have the same question, well... we can only explain things to you, we cannot make you understand them.
The DLC is supposed to be a dumbed down, more accessible interpretation of space exploration than the mod. They have also been planning this for longer than the mod has been around
Also, a company can't update a game forever without getting some additional income. Factorio is hardly a top seller now so it makes sense to release a DLC. It's that or Factorio 2, which of course would also cost money.
I for one am ecstatic that they are releasing a DLC and I'll buy it the second it's available.
A small correction.
Space Age is a full expansion and not a DLC.
Best i can do is when I hear of the update coming out, is to keep a copy of 1.0 and play it on an *offline* activated steam version in case 2.0 does bad ♥♥♥♥.
I did this with Kerbal Space Program because of the illegal Scum EULA they added. In my country, such forced EULA are illegal.
And, let's be honest, the game ends with launching a rocket into space, you can even get on top of that rocket. If you're going to make an actual expansion to the game, adding space related content just makes sense from the progression standpoint. The mod exists for the same reason, it's literally the natural continuation of the base game. It'd be weird if the expansion suddenly featured underground content, or was just a big horizontal expansion of the existing progression curve.
