thanks for the answer - at least i shall not be searching in vain anymore lol :-)
i shall craft any long commands in notepad if need be
also - i used a value of 7500 for that command i listed, since i am attempting to uncover a planet Earth map mod (Factorio World) - and it is still going after many many minutes, and i can still barely see any of the Americas - plus there appears to be a mysterious land north of the Arctic - so not sure what's going on up there lol
anyway - thanks again for the answer - i shall mark it as such
/c game.player.force.chart_all()
may well have been quicker lol
/c game.player.force.chart_all() does not work - since it just shows currently generated map - whereas the other command force generates it the way the radar does
i assume because it is generating it as fast as it can
possibly it may have sped up some earlier iterations - but each orbit of the map is now higher than the maximum vertical zoom at 1080p
i shall try Cities of the Earth 3 next - since the author of Factorio World collaborated on it, and it looks to have a bunch of interesting features (as well as specifically saying it does not tile, while allowing for world size selection)
But you are right, if you are already at maximum you can't increase it without buying a better cpu.
which makes sense - the thing is generating massive amounts of map
i am sure i would have got a big bump at the beginning - but now the outer edges of the map are massive
also - i found the map mod's settings - i can change the scale and disable tiling (it puts ocean around it)
so gonna have a play with that also - before i check the other mod
thanks for all the help :-)
and as for the map revealing stuff - looks like my rig manages to keep the UPS above the FPS for quite a while - but not by much (e.g. 60/90 no matter how much higher i set the game speed)
i suspect most players using the command i listed with a value of say 5000, and a high speed would see the first bit go super quick - and then they would get the same slight UPS increase for a while that i am seeing - and then it would eventually settle back to real time
on the other hand i have what i guess is a pretty mid range CPU with a Ryzen 5 3600 - so i guess many players will have the thing zipping along much quicker for longer
either way - is interesting - since i hadn't played much with the console commands - and is cool that you can force it to generate the map out to some arbitrary distance
and being able to stress test the game and one's hardware :-)
