My thoughts exactly :)
Nauvis and beyond... if you do not know what Nau(o?)vis stands for, it's a weird and ultimately disappointing title when you learn that the "NEWIS!?" is actually synonymous to "vanilla". If you know what it means it's... meh? Why do you name your expansion after the thing that you get AWAY from in the expansion? It's NOT about Nauvis AND beyond, it's just beyond. So IF and only IF Nauvis was a very well known name, Beyond Nauvis would kinda work, otherwise... eh.
Space Age is neutral for me. It sounds a bit like something that belongs in Civilization 6's 7th addon to 12th DLC (remember, WUBE is greedy!), but it's not bad. It's also the only title from proposed list that IMMIDIATELY tells you what it is about. Space. It's the opposite clickbait effect - it draws you in because it provides you enough information to want to know more, instead of being completely bland and uninformative title like "Extreme beyond amazing frontier adventures".
All in all, Space Age is easy on the tongue, informative and somewhat catchy? As far as it's not an amazing name, it checks all the boxes. Plus, I hope I shed a bit of light into how much stuff can actually go into naming a product ;)
Maybe something like "Factorio : Voyager" or "Homecoming" or "Outer Space"
or whatever :D
As long as the expansion is good!
A lot of people playing this game are totaly adicted, they dont care about anything but the name Factorio. Just read the coms, they already decided that this DLC, we know nothing about since we dont have any real gamplay video, was a masterpiece.
That is not true. We know it's another take on space, one that is targeted towards the people who liked the idea of space expansion but disliked the complexity and design principles of Space Ex mod.
No, we do not know the specifics. We never do. That's not how hype works.
It's like being surprised people were hyped as hell for early Marvel movies and aren't anymore. I mean, it's the same scenario - people don't know exactly how the movies are, right? But they have enough data to extrapolate some expectations.
It's not addiction, it's the beloved developer meeting the hopes and expectations.
I don't think it really matters if "Space Age" is a boring name because so is "Factorio".
Also, "Space Age" very clearly communicates what it is and what you do in it and why you should buy it. It's about space. Space is cool. Going there is cool (but also challenging).
Which led me to the more sobering and jaded impression: Factorio, now with "spacetrains" and "rare earth" materials you have to haul home to bug central. And it could just have been 'with cargoships and continents' instead of 'planets and spaceships'.
Get angry all you want, but so far there is not much else being revealed.
But back on topic, your are hyping yourself tbf. At this point is is much better for them to not settle on a name for it, than build up some huge idea in peoples head that does not fit the game and they can not deliver on and then getting flooded with negative posts when it arrives far from where people imaginations were hoping for.
Also, anyone with half a brain will spend the 15 mins it will take to search and watch a video on the exact content of the mod before they purchase it when it comes out, so its not like they will be playing a game of Russian roulette with there money.
