The devs have already announced an upcoming expansion so I suspect their efforts are spent there.
Besides the fact it's probably just a cheerful joke, it does make sense. The closer we are to expansion the less likely they are to drop a non-expansion update or feature big enough to be worth jumping a milestone, so witch each passing day it's more likely that base-game update coming aside the expansion would be indeed the 1.2 update.
And even if not... who cares? It's a happy little wink post. Why would you contest that?
Edit: There could be a 1.1.207 before 1.2.
Bugfixes every 2/3 weeks: https://forums.factorio.com/viewforum.php?f=3 Giant expansion announced, will arrive in the next months.
Someone want to calculate the average time between every update? That could give us a good estimated period we could expect the release if we take some degrees of freedom in account.
sure i doubt they will find another 30 or so updates from the current experimental (1.1.87), since as mentioned the game is insanely polished and most updates are fixes for rare bugs likely found by specific mods, or additions to the modding interface
but 1.1.111 - that's nice :-)
Just skip using 1.2 as the milestone for the expansion.
And instead make its release version carry the version number 1.3.37
and i suppose maybe they would then coin a new term for the masses - leeb - just slightly more polished than something considered leet ;-)
There's a solution for that:
upgrade to version 3.13.37
64k resolution
virtual reality
smell
touch
The only think lacking is immortality.
With an uncertain release date on the roadmap:
7-7-77
