same as you insrtalll them
It doesn't have that option. it doesn't load past 4%
When you start the game it won't load that mod, it's not there.
Someone who knows how Steam places the files will have to help you find that folder, if you can't find it on your own. My installs are all modified by me and what Steam does with it on its own I don't know.
How do you get to the directory?
i'm assuming your playing on windows...
C:\ > Users > %your username% > AppData > Roaming > Factorio > mods
Unfortunately I’m playing on Mac. So this information won’t work. Thank you for the information however it is the incorrect information
*: Name ONE other game that has an in-game mod manager - you can't because literally none of them do. EVERYONE ELSE has figured out that it's better to use a lightweight launcher to update your mods BEFORE you load the rest of the game.
Also there are a lot if you count games that make you activate mods ingame. For example Rimworld you have to download a mod. Put it into the mod folder.(steamworkshop does these two for you but the forced autoupdates are garbage so I prefer to get mods from elsewhere) Then start the game and go to mods menu and activate the mod and then the game restarts. A lot of unreal engine games also have the same activate mods ingame and restart system.
Another Mac-centric way which should bypass the "hidden" part of the path is to use CMD+CTRL+G and type the whole path yourself. Usually typing the `~` at the beginning will auto-replace with the `/Users/<username>` part for you. If not you can type the whole thing as ``/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Steam/` with the correct username, of cousre.
As an alternative, on the same Downloads window you could try clearing the download cache. I highly suspect that it's a problem with Steam's oversight code rather than the base code of Factorio or the mod causing the issue. Clearing Steam's cache might wipe out whatever is causing the problem.
Interesting information. I have 2 older versions installed, none that old though, as well as the current version from Steam, and 4 other independent installs and 2 multi-platform portable installs. The mods in each version vary frequently and are seldom, if ever the same between them. I have yet to have any problems with the in-game mod manager. I believe that the "braindead" part is that it is so simple that even someone braindead could use it. I do wish, however, that the updater in Discord worked as well as I have to manually update it nearly twice a month.
Your experiences and opinions might be interesting, and surely are dear to you, if not to the rest of the world. They are, however, of absolutely no value to the OP, for whom this thread should be helpful. I'm reasonably certain that you're able to make a thread where you can discuss, debate, or expound on that point. All free of charge.
