So This pollution problem....
Couple of questions here.

First has anyone else had issues with stone paths keeping their pollution no matter what? I can only get rid of it by removing the path or using commands which I am not a fan of. I turned down my entire base leaving only turrrets powered and still pollution exists but only on my stone paths.

Second, I have seen a few mods for dealing with pollution but nothing for the newer versions of the game with the exception of the air filter mod. Unfortunately, its not very functional. Does anyone know of another mod that will help with that or allow the planting of trees etc. ?

Thanks for anyone who can help out.

air filter mod is very functional. the issue is that the filters only filter the air in the chunk that they are in. also unless you have some kid of "green factory" you wont see an impact on the pollution levels untill you get tier 3 filters. issue is they require 2MW to operate. with EVO GUI mod you can see exactly the pollution level where you are at so you can see if its working.

Why is polution a problem? Just kill the biters!

I saw that mod but I didnt think that a 2MW cost for the filter rate was really worth it. At that rate built more laser turrets and as Templar pointed out just shoot that bugs. I hadnt see the EVO GUI so I will look for that one next. So far the only mod I really like is the warehouse mod.

All three Air filtration plants are usefull, not just the Mk 3. The Mk I has a very sensible power requirements and is still very strong. I've been using 4 Mk I and 2 Mk II around the steam engine boilers and they can handle 160 steam engines with only a small amount of pollution remaining.

You can enable grid view (press F4), then press F7 in map view. Zoom in and you will see exactly which chunk to place air filters into as well as the pollution numbers.

Is this just something that you enjoy doing? I get that there are many ways to skin this cat but the biters are just not that hard to kill...

air filter is too op. i only use MK1 and its still super effective. Put effective module in everything and it will reduce pollution A LOT.

The EMP mod gives biters teeth. Big teeth. Not that they cannot be handled, but you'd have to already be very rich in power, laser turrets, poison capsules and the like, OR you would try to co-exist without provoking mobs whenever possible. It's just not as easy or usefull to try and clear nests, because they are dug in and can counter laser turrets effectively.

Burrowing worms are another headache that justifies Air Filtration, but for vanilla gameplay it would pretty much be something to enjoy doing, or something else to sink resources into (coal and plastics).

RE: Pollution, dissipation, and absorption

(see https://wiki.factorio.com/index.php?title=Pollution )

Pollution is absorbed by natural ground tiles with the notable exception of desert tiles. Plantlife will also absorb some additional pollution.

So, when you pave a tile with stone or concrete, you stop absorption, causing pollution to collect up over that tile.

find the main source of pollution, and put ~5 MK1 airfilter and the pollution wil lbe gone. the pollution decrease very slowlytho, so you gotta wait for a bit

Research into electric furnaces and use solar panels + acumulators. It's a lot more peaceful that way and you can deal with the aliens at your own pace. And then eventually start nuking them out of spite because they're evil for getting in the way of your destruction anyway.
