God mode?

Is there any way to turn on any sort of game mode where I can just build stuff indefinitely, be invincible, maybe even walk through things? Would be useful to test certain builds and make efficient blueprints before building the real thing in a normal world.
If no, is there any kind of scenario/custom map that does something similar?

EDIT: so I know there's the sanbox mode, but I can't figure out how to place stuff in there..

In sandbox mode you build things just like you normally would - you take something from your inventory or hotbar, and place it by clicking. You still need to craft the objects and mine resources.

As stated, sandbox would suit this play style.You have no Avatar to care about. Your always safe.

There's also a mod that produces any item instantly for 1 iron plate. have a look on factoriomods.com.

start a custom game, and check peaceful mode. Turn down enemy bases to None. You'll never have threat.

I think I'll grab the test mode mod and turn on peaceful. Thanks everyone.
