Game is quite easy to understand especially recipes *how to produce X or Y*. Learning curve is easy and you expand slowly adding more and more to your previous build stuff. Every item also shows what it exactly needs. There are only 3 types ores + oil.
You know, you don't start with everything at once, at the beginning you have very few recipes and you don't feel overhelmed at all. Once you progress through the research you unlock more new recipes, adapt your base to the new stuff and research more.
In my entire playtime I only looked twice on wiki to read about map-generation settings, what they exactly do and how rail signals work.
There is a fanstastic tutorial which explains how basic stuff works, I really recommend it. Then after completing it jump onto sandbox. The part of having fun in factorio is figuring out by yourself most of the factory design choices, no need to look at wikis.
You're still going to need to watch a video or two, or read up to grasp certain concepts - The game doesn't do a terribly good job at explaining things like railroads (nor should it imo)
I didn't need to use the wiki to grasp the aspects of this game.
You will be fine.
I assume you do have to look some of the more advanced stuff up later in the game, but I've managed just fine on my own to this point and I haven't played this sort of game in decade or two.
What ? Are you saying that STEAM refuses that you add some more on ? :)
Anyway, thx to all for your answers, it helps to make decision.
I'm not against some inquiries for mid/late game, as your needs become more specifics...

Thx, but... what is the link between Henry the benefactor of humanity and Lord Starbug ? '-_-'
Anyway I pick the game so I'll see very soon. As I saw in some vids, all recipes are listed, and raw materials required are said so...
THANKS TO ALL !! ===CLOSED====
Equally evil.
Starbug is not that bad...
