No goals after rocket launch.
Hi there Factorios, I played this game round about 500 hours non steam and 260 on steam and absolutely loved almost every minute. Once you reach the moment when you`re able to craft almost everything automatically was awesome. That is the best part of the game I think. :) When your factories needs are satisfied... well build it bigger or rebuild the whole thing after the complete research is done... absolutely entertaining. One of my favourite games.

Except the robot thing and smart networks and that stuff. never touched that part of the game and never will. It`s too complicated for me. Getting trains to work was a hard thing to do and now it is really fun to watch, but robot networks? Eeewwww!

Back to topic.
The problem is, once you started the rocket, there are no goals and the whole factory you`ve build is useless. I started the rocket yesterday... and accidently forgot to put the sattelite inside it so I build another one. xD But after doing that there is nothing I can do which is a bit sad.
Expand and build everything bigger? For what? My belts are full of stuff and there is no more use for it. I really love my factory and it`s a bit sad that there is no goal anymore.

What do you guys do?

Well, there are modpacks. Bob's mods is one of the larger packs, which can make even red science packs take really long. Frustrating at the start, but also more satisfying one you got things running.

I do recommend you look into Robots though, it makes mid-endgame a lot easier.

robotics isnt as hard as u think and makes the game alot more open (open i mean less transport belts overall or even none)

Hhmmmm, Mods are a thing I don`t use in games like this, but I guess they could add some more fun after you launched the first rocket Vanilla style. :) I will have a look at it. Maybe I like what this mod has to offer. ;)

Robots... oO i tried to figure out how to put repair packs into connected roboports so the robots can repair every wall and laser turret automatically. To be honest... I couldn`t manage that and my pride shattered, too. :D I`m not dumb, but if irt is a bit too comlicated... no, thanks. ^^
It took a week to understand how to set rail signals correctly so trains can do their job fully automated, which is absolutely awesome. ^^
Robots are really not my cup of tea. I hate the fact, but still not my cup of tea.

To be honest, I really like to see what is going on in the factory. transport belts are my favourite. :) Have a lok at my "beltworld" ^^

as for mods u might wanna look at the ion cannon mod makes cleaning alien bases ALOT more eazyer

If you have the repair packs put into a red provider chest the robots will grab them when they need to repair something. No need to put them into robo-ports.

On my main game, I'm building a mega-factory, with the intention of building a rocket at least once every few minutes. It's given me a lot of stuff to think about, since I also am a fan of conveyor belts.... how to manage vast quantities of ore/trains, multiple full belts, buffer chests in the hundreds, etc.

Planning it on huge tracts of land is quite the challenge, and my main factory is basically in charge of making pieces for the mega-factory.

If you need assistance with robots, I'd be happy to help. Friend me, and hopefully I can assist :-)

I think what i want after rocket is this:
you escape from this planet, but you crash into another one mid way. You lose everything EXCEPT your armor and 1 steel pickaxe or tool. You restart in another map and can choose the setting just like before ad you restart the whole game.
It is eaiser than last cause you get to have your power armor, but most likely the user will choose more challenging setting. The evolutoin will start much higher (maybe like 40 or 50%)...
OR they can add more alien kind or some tweaks to make it a new experience.

Literally all you have to do is put repair packs into any passive, active, or storage chest, and the construction bots will do it for you.
That defeatist attitude of yours will do you no good, you hear? We can't help you if you refuse to git gud.

Set your own goals....

f.e. you send your first rocket after 50 hours of playtime. then try to launch 100 rockets before you reach 100 hours of playtime. build a giant factory just for rockets and look how many you can produce per hour...

Ok, building everything bigger just to send more rockets is a good idea. I spent so many hours on my first map on steam, would be nice to have future goals so I can come back from time to time. Thanks, Miss Sky ;)

Nice idea, but I like it slow. I rebuild my factory many times, because I had new ideas how to build it more effective. the look was also a thing why I rebuild almost everything on my map. With masses of monsters right at the start wouldn`t be funny for me.
You should write this idea in a new thread so the dev can see it. ;)

Didn't I read in one of the dev journals that they're planning to add things after the rocket so there is an ever increasing amount of targets/goals?

Build a bigger factory to launch more rockets :D
Rockets are actually a really good ressource sink. If you want to build a couple of hundred of them, you'll need to mine ressources from quite distant places.
This is the point when trains are really needed :)

Warning you will Facepalm yourself hard if you read on.

Just let the Repair-Pack factory put everything into a provider chest. Then place a requester Chest near the roboport with an inserter. Bam Repair-Packs get inserted
