You can expand your production to another site and leave the original factory as kind of a core. I don't see any reason to destroy anything within an infinite map.

i've tried expanding my base somewhere else but to try and figure out all of the train stuff is too confusing and about everything in my origional base is manual

Don't get deluded by players with 1000 billion hours of playtime. At the beginning you don't need trains. You can use long transport belts.

To reply to OP question.

Yes. when you start out you build things based on what you have and make them work. Once you have better techs and resources and build power you can demolish old base and rebuild more efficient/ optimized version/s.

Not only it will work better itll look pretty too.

By destroy you mean relocate? Sure. I did that partially with some of the levels in the campaign, didn't like the way they were set up to distribute materials.

Much like a City Building game you are constantly rejuvinating your factories (or rejuvinating your city) and demolishing old to relocate it somewhere else so that you can better the factory as your needs change.

Don't be afraid to redesign your layouts or start over in a new map if things are really messy. You get better with practice, so your second world will be better than the first one, the third better than the second and so on. You could simply tear everything down and rebuild, it's not like you'll have to craft everything from scratch.

Try to pick up tricks too
Sometimes learning more about the game and picking up neat little tricks allows you to build your bases much faster and much more effective
