Express belts: useless?
Aren't blue transport belts useless? Everything gets where they need to be eventually, and it's just a waste of resources.

Throughput my friend

Everything goes from point A to B eventually..but the faster you can get it from point A to B the faster you can use it

You want a ton of production over a smaller, more compact area? You need speed
You want a ton of production over a larger, less effecient area? You stay slow

That isn't the whole thing too. Faster belts allow more product on it at once. Trying to make a lot of circuits is annoying if the belts from an ore mine can't handle having all miners dumping ore on it at once.

Express belts can handle 64 furnaces with no speed boosts in them. You can't run these same 64 furnaces without an entirely separate slower belt bringing in more ore.

Yeah throughout. So when you are designing an area (say your smelting or primary resource zones) express belts can help a great deal. Its especially useful for designing interchanges and loading areas for trains, storage and high priority stock.

They are no more useless then faster inserters, faster assemblers, or speed modules. lol

Correct. For maximum effiency make sure to not build any miners (you will be able to gather all ore with your bare hands eventually), use only a single smelter (eventually it will be able to process all ore), and craft everything by hand. Doesn't that sound fun?

My belts are always spammed to the max. I don't need fast belts.

Its good for quick delivery from train-ore-depot -> furnaces > plates via bus > to the factories

Truthfully speaking, this is my friend's agrument, so I'm with you on this one. He insists on tier 1 belts, which I find strange...

Your argument is invalid because automatization is the obvious point of the game. Crafting everything by hand is annoying. I like the game because you don't have to grind.

Why do you want the ressources to reach the target location faster? Once the ore is coming you have a steady flow anyways.

Even speedrunners don't use high tier belts.

There is no right or wrong way to play, if you only want to use slow belts, you are free to do so.

Personally, I like the faster conveyors because of the better theroughput. A faster conveyor can remove the produced items from more buildings at a time then a slow conveyor, it can also feed items to more buildings then a slow conveyor.

Of course, you are free to play as you wish. If that means waiting around as slow buildings and conveyors produce everything slowly, well, you are free to do so.

So, it really just matters if you want things to be done faster. Which I happen to prefer. Well, thanks for the opinions dudes.

Thats the case in my green circuit factory, assemblers produce so quick that tier2 belt can't keep up with exporting them and it makes half of my green ciruit factory "wait-until-there-is-a-free-place"

That's because speedrunners are building the smallest factory possible to finish.

That doesn't mean they don't want a high through-put, proving that you can achieve this without expert belts.

Ok, so try working towards launching a rocket every minute and let us know how far you get with slow belts.
