To your question, there is no micromaneging the inventory. Sometimes it will be full and you have to put a box down to empty it.
But there is a free demo. Try it out and decide for yourself :).
Try the demo.
You will reach a point where you have many flying robots that will bring, or take away, whatever you request from your inventory. They will also build everything for you if you want. Once you start using blueprints, you can copy paste your designs and the robots will bring whatever is needed to build it all (provided you automated production of those items) and you will never have to worry about carrying those items. They will even disassemble placed items and remove tons of trees for you, lickitty-split.
This game makes me wonder why I've ever farmed anything by hand, over and over, in other games. I'd much rather automate things using your own design.
Yeah it kinda makes you think about that doesn't it....I mean all those wasted hours mining X resource in game Y, processing them to product Z, one at a time, in order to make an object only to discover here you dump it on a belt, head to you "dump box" and take out a laserturrent to harras your enemies more with....
*Le sigh Factorio; you made me lazy....
