Intersections!
What kind of intersections do you guys find the most efficient/easiest to work with/all-around best? Simple roundabouts or complicated two-way stack interchanges?

Here are a couple I built recently. I personally prefer single train setups. Please excuse me shooting those pictures while it was dark.
  • Turbine interchange[cdn.pbrd.co] (can be condensed more)
  • Unnamed interchange[cdn.pbrd.co] (basically a turbine interchange, but so condensed that some of the rails connect differently)
  • Stack interchange[cdn.pbrd.co] (very basic and common setup)

Please tell me your thoughts and/or your own favourites! :)

Option 4: A roundabout is what I use

I tend to go with the one you labelled a Stack Interchange, sometimes putting a circle of track in the middle for 180' changes of direction. (Mostly for personal travel use).

The others look very pretty, but IMO are inefficient in terms of getting trains through the junction fast so others can pass --- a requirement on a busy rail network.

This is the one that I'm favoring, at least for a 4 way.

Perhaps not as pretty as the turbines but it's functional.
I have a few roundabouts on my line but I've never really liked them much. I run 1-4-1mostly and when it goes around the roundabout, well it reminds me more of a toy train set than a rail line. I'll do away with them as I expand. Most of my intersections though are 3 way. This is the one I'm using though I run on the right rather than the left.

For my part i prefer a less Rollercoaster-style.

I prefer to stay simple but effective.

Low amount of tracks and place-storing.
If you still think its too complicated you can leave the middle straight rails out and just use a ring around. works fine aswell^^

I use this, but even without the middle crossing, and the loops slightly bigger so that 2 1-4-1 trains can pass trough the circles.

That's what I do, too, without the straight-through tracks. Sometimes I use one with a slightly larger ring that supports 8 pairs of tracks (4 normal, 4 diagonal) but I don't often need that many tracks intersecting at once.

By the way, you don't really need the power pole in the center. The poles at the 4 entrances will connect to each other, forming a diamond shape, if they're placed right.
