Why is this game so addicting?

I never wanna put down this game, ever. I will play this game for a full day, even in the creative mode mods. What makes this so addicting?

EDIT 1: Some people in the early comments feel that it is because it's a game of problems within problems, and I sorta agree. But somehow, the problems arent infuriating.

LOL. Me to. It lets you build alot of stuff and offers alot of fun challanges.

I just hope they exspand on the game more like more stuff in the tech tree. :)

I think it;s because there are so many ways to play the game, and even to reach the end goal. ... or not... and just build "forever". I find a great deal of satisfaction in streamlining assembly lines, looking for better, more efficient ways of doing things. I also like the challenge of working on a massive-throughput factory -- it's a compltely different way of building.

It's the good kind of addiction. The bad kind of addiction is repetitive mobile games, whereas the good kind of addiction (factorio) is the kind where you solve problems and encounter things you thought were fine, but is seems you can make it even more efficient. Don't do drugs kids.

For me it's been about finding ways to build a factory, learning what works and what doesn't work. Once I know how it works I search for ways to make it work better, sometimes this is through my own experimentation, other times it's through watching lets plays or hitting the forums. When one of my ideas doesn't pan out the way I'd planned the game becomes a quest to find out why.

My guess is that finding out ways to solve problems and creating the next little asembly line is both fun and challenging as you see that it works out. Yet once ur finished u realise that u need so much of this new line, that you cant relax on our achivements and you have takle the next challenge. Its a continuity of challenges with individual problem solving and the bonus that a good solved problem will help u solve the next one. I guess this is the ultimate boost to this game.

I hate this game (I love it).
