Factorio

Factorio

İstatistiklere Bak:
Is this game actually replayble?
...Or do replays just result in you doing the exact same strategy over and over?

Something like Risk of Rain/binding of issac or whatever is quite replayable to me, since everything changes on every new run, even though the basic idea is the same, but Factorio seems like the sort of game where, once you have a strategy for something/an optimised building structure, that's literally all you need to use forever on every run, and everything just becomes a rut.

For me, once I find the best way of doing something in any sort of mechanical game, I lose interest, since I've done the best I can.

What would you guys say?

I've found that it is replayable, but only to a certain extent. I've probably put in roughly 800+ hours into Factorio, which is a feat in and of itself, but I've about reached the limit.

There isn't really any 'goal' I can aim for anymore, one that I can say "I've done it!", and that's something I need to be able to keep going in most games.

But yeah, being my 3rd most played game ever is pretty amazing.

It's my second most played game including the off steam hours I've put into it
750 for terraria
350 for factorio

Oh, fair enough.

Still, to be honest, it doesn't really seem like the sort of thing I'd be into. I figured they might be some element of randomisation that might lead to forcing me to react/build in different ways/use different weapons on every run (not by choice, but through necessity), but from the general consensus (based on some forums I asked about the game), this seems like the type of game where, while you can play through it again, once you do find the best strategy, you can just end up using that every time and winning without issue.

There's nothing wrong with that, but it's just not always for me. It may be strange, but I was sort of thinking of Dwarfs!? when I was thinking about this game, where the gameplay is the same, but the environment changes, but in Dwarfs!? the environment is really a large focus which keeps it extremely replayable, while Factorio is different, and the environment changing doesn't really affect the order of how you need to do things, just where you put the things you did. Kinda like minecraft, which I wasn't into either.

Though I did like terraria, probably because it just felt magical thanks to the music, graphics, sounds, and fun combat.

I'm not really one of those "set your own goals" kinda people. Achievements mean nothing to me. So I don't think I'd get the sort of enjoyment I'm looking for out of this.

I do appreciate the help though. Maybe I'll pick it up later, probably, but it's not really sounding like something I want right now.

Im going to be as honest as I can. it is true that for the most part that you will be building certain things the same way evry single game. If you build differently you will end up with a less efficient factory. And the order you build things are also quite the same. There are room for change though. Some things may be skipped entirely. You dont need trains for instance. The map however changes things more than you might realize. if you play on a hostile maps you need to focus more on millitary, produce more turrets etc. If you play on a map where resourses are spread out you need to transport resources further etc. But even if you play this game once it will still take you many hours. So even without replayvalue you still get alot for your money.

Yes its replayable..especially when you use a nice mods to make your next run more difficult or add stuff....

I have never finished the game yet and made the rocket silo ..but i keep starting over with more mods installed ..lol

I like RSO-mod with marathon and harder enemies.... Long game...lots of exploring to look for ore veins..then build trains towards it...and everything needs power and protecting..

I only play multiplayer by the way...same friend i always play online with...lot of fun :)

I personally always come up with better strategies and new self-made goals each time I play.

It depends on your creativity.
I'd say, that's the way it plays out for me as well. There is always that small tweak that i just have to implement in order to perfect a particular production line.

Ah, so it's one of those "make your own fun" kinda games.

Might not be for me then. I was never really into goat simulator or stuff like that.

Thanks for the quick answer!

Factorio?... Goat Simulator?....Factorio?.....Goat Simulator? Yeh! I guess they're very similar in gameplay.
The replayablity is in designing more effecient builds. how can you improve your previous design.

Now I see the connection - the devs at WUBE just take all the bugs from Factorio - and put it in Goat Simulator. That's why it has so many bugs and gets worse with every update.

Having only 16 squares in vertical space to use

Woah! That's the first time I've heard that idea. It's really creative and I might want to give it a try. Did you just think of it or did you find it from somewhere else? Has someone recorded a play-through with this restriction on YouTube? Thank you!

It's called a "Ribbon World". People use various heights... most youtubers use something like 150-200 tiles high, infinite wide.

I did one at 100 tiles high. And even though it's not horribly restrictive build-wise... the problem is resource distribtion. In my 0.12.35 save, I didn't use mods, and was blocked on one side by water... I thought I would never find enough copper!

A lot people were despairing of ever finding oil as well!

It's a fun way to challenge yourself, for sure, as well as develop different strategies for play. In that playthrough I ended up putting a shuttle train on the bottom just to get from one side of my base to another!

The youtuber "Zisteau" used the 16 tilehigh premise in his second factorio series. He never finished the series but it seemed quite challenging to do for the whole game.

A CME is a "Coronal Mass Ejection" from my name "Frozen Corona"
There's generally no less than 4000 people playing every day. That's how I generally gauge the replayability of game.

That doesn't mean much, it means the game is popular and/or long but doesn't say much about replayability
