Best way to take out biter bases with worms?
Having some trouble expanding and surviving the attacks and when i try to go eliminate the source those worms do some damage and i end up running back in fear. ANy tips on how to kill worms or take down bases efficiently (im still only on green science packs)

slowly creeping forward with turrets and power poles. keep building new poles forward and supplying them with turrets and removing turrets from the back.

eventually if you have enough of em they will reach the hives and then its game over for the bugs. works best with laser turrets as no ammo need.

alternatively make a tank and just ram everything, flee every now and then to repair.

would recomend using poison capsules on the worms, and combat shotgun with piercing ammo to take out the nest
u could also use the hit and run tactic with a car where u do drive bys shooting at nests/worms and repairing ur car after every run
or u could use the tank ram tactic where u ram into nest/worms with a tank but do 1-2 in one run at max or ull be slowed down to much and overwhelmd

I have tried the hit and run tactic but the worms repair too quickly when i go back with the car x-x (it was a medium worm i think im progressing too slowly and the things are out evolving my gear)

whatever you do keep in mind that late game you stop being a soldier and become a general. your health and damage output becomes meaningless compared to 50 behemoths coming at you at once or the damage 40 upgraded laser turrets or capsule drones do.

Turret creep is the most effective way in mid game, once you have laser turrets. Eventually, it won't be enough though: The spawners will be too well guarded and will spawn biters as fast as you can kill them.

Destruction capsules (Combat robots that follow you and die after a certain amount of time) will be the solution in the long term, once you have a few dozen following you and you have a fast suit of power armor.

Most effective and easiest way: Drive on them with a tank. It works everytime, and when your tank is low on HP you can still repair it. I crushed more than 20 bases in one game

Early game when you have only limited research, you can use gun turrets. Place them ahead of you just at a safe distance (just before enemies start running at you), fill them with bullets, and quickly push onwards. Being fast is key to winning here as otherwise you will waste lots of bullets.

With 30+ gun turrets and 300+ magazine, you can safely take on nests with up to 5 spawners and a few worms.

When I do this, I would put my turrets on slot 4 and bullets on slot 5 (and carry no weapon myself to give me 100 more available magazines that would otherwise go into my own weapon). Press 4, place down 2-3 turrets ahead of me -> biters will start rushing them -> press 5 and ctrl click the turrets to fill them with ammo (or you can cheat with autofill mod in which case you need far less ammo - 100-200 ammo is safe). Press 4 again and build further ahead as soon as biter wave is dead, while making sure to quickly deconstruct behind yourself as well in order to reclaim remaining bullets from out of range turrets.

I personally make a wall of turrets just out of the enemy's aggro range, then creep forward and start shooting, you'll be able to focus on the bases, while the turrets kill the enemies. The real problem is doing more damage then the worms regen rate.

Gas capsules are excellent against worms - because they can't escape the gas cloud. Toss them from extreme range; await results, then repeat until the lot are dead.

these are some good advice only problem is to get that far in research while defending my base

Tank outranges the worms, get 100 explosive ammo and some defense drones and enjoy.

Most people suggest AP rounds in the tank is better than HE.

Its been a while but some of this may apply at your level.

Poison capsules, the strongest offensive robot capsule you can build, and shotgun.

Surprisingly effective especially at the higher levels. Basically I spawn as many defenders as possible, spam the area with poison, my defenders take care of a lot of the spawners, and my shotgun tears through the worm and bases.

I have tried everything from large automated turret stations and tanks etc, nothing has anything on the poison defender shotgun method. There is Ion Cannon but thats mod and end game
