Peaceful Mode Bug??
I set my world in peaceful mode and have not built any defenses because of it, but recently monsters are starting to attack me. Is this intended or a bug?

Peaceful Mode doesn't mean you won't have to deal with aliens. As far as I know (and I did not played this mode), it's just they won't attack until you attack them first or come too close from them. To be confirmed by anyone who knows the stuff better than me.

From my expirience in preacefull mode, they wont attack ur base if u dont build to close to them and they wont attack u untill u attack them.

Im new in this game, started playing last night, i create a world with no "enemy bases" this mean that will have no alien beasts too? im ok with beasts, but enemy bases i rather not have until i get a better grasp of the game.

@Donkey -- you will have no aliens at all. This is a big problem, since for end-game you need the alien artifacts for purple science. These ONLY drop from defeated alien bases.

I recommend you start a new map and set aliens to Peaceful mode. (And you can use the low frequency settings, and Very Big start area to have maximum room to build before you need to clear out bases).

Ok thanks for the info guys. There's probably just a nearby enemy base that spawned near me.

In peaceful mode you can walk around and build right in amongst the nests without being attacked. They don't care how close you are.

Did you start the game in peaceful mode or use the console to change it? If you used the console there may still be unfriendly aliens around which will still attack you. To make sure your game is peaceful use these console commands
/c game.peaceful_mode = true
/c game.forces['enemy'].kill_all_units()

That will set game to peaceful and kill of any enemies. All respawning aliens will be peaceful.

Ok I think it was bugged in that case. I already knew what the commands were so I did them earlier and now they stopped attacking. It's kind of weird, since I started the world out in peaceful.

Just because they don't attack you dosn't mean you can ride them

Be aware that biters that get stuck will attack the nearest thing to them to free themselves, even on peaceful mode. Maybe that was it?

I think it's an issue with biter pathfinding - they try to get to a certain tile, but if there's a structure in their way and it takes too long to get around it, they'll attack the structure.

I'v played several peaceful games and the biters attack every single time eventually. No defenses, so I know the turrets or me didn't kill any. I guess peaceful is only useful for delaying the biters from attacking, not stopping the attacks completely, so build turrets in case they randomly enter rage mode like they always do.

I would like to say the opposite, in every peaceful game I have played I was never attacked until I went guns blazing into them. And that is until I start needing the purple science, pretty much end game. Perhaps its a bug?

Like someone else said, maybe the biters got lost in my factory while expanding and the best solution was to destroy a path. I guess I need to spread my factory out a bit more instead of trying to condense everything.

@Bill -- MangledPork did a series called 'Living with Biters', in which he discovered that biters *have* to be somewhere and they will destroy things, even on peaceful mode. Often it was an item that was blocking them, so he made lots of pathways, walled in what he could, and is still peaceful with them, even though he's run out of research until he goes to war with the biters.

However, they do not all-out attack. (e.g. many biters at once). If armies of biters are atacking you, there may be something buggy going on.

I see, so if I were to leave the biter that destroyed the building alone, he would stop attacking and go on his way? I think my problem is that if I saw a biter attacking a building I immediately killed the biter, which I'm guessing is what causes the other biters to start attacking me.
