Game difficulty - PVE encounters and dynamics.
I seems pointless to research the millitary researches since you can put the first available turret near enemy bases and if you do it fast enough there's no enemy that can challenge you.

I saw the hardcore mode but you can still put the turrets behind your back and by the time the enemy respawns you destroy their spawn point.

on top of that, does anyone know anymore survival based mods, adding perhaps more requirements to your survival such as weather, more enemy types other than giant worms and zerg-like creatures?

You must be in the beginning of the game. Biters get very strong at end-game, requiring research of better armor and shielding and upgrades to weaponry as they evolve.

There are definitely mods that ramp up the difficulty of the alien life. Check http://mods.factorio.com.

Not really, I went far ahead into a massive spawn point, as long as i had enough ammunition I could take all the spawners with the basic turret and first ammunition type.

I looked for more enemy types mods but nobody made any.
Do you plan on releasing more updates or expansions in the future regarding the matters discussed above?

I meant evolution-wise. Check your evolution level by typing /evolution in the console. If you're only fighting low level biters, of course it's going to be easy. Evolution increases over time & with pollution, and is not a product of a large nest area.

As far as alien mods go -- yes, there are several:
(A simple search of "alien" got me these results:)
- Natural Evolution Enemies
- Armageddon (nice little disasters)

A category search of the Enemies category gives these results:
- Misanthrope
- EMP Biters
- Swarm
- Bob's Enemies
- Bible Biters
- Revenge of the Earth federation

I'm not a developer, I'm a forum moderator. For long term goals, check out the roadmap on the factorio.com site, or ask the devs directly there.

I've downloaded several mods but non of them seem to work on the current agme version.
Is there a way to restore older versions of factorio?

Yes. Most mods are not out of date at all. They are already updated for 0.14. The mod portal didn't exist in 0.12 yet so no mod will be 0.12(In theory).

I made a simple mistake, I found the reason it didn't work and managed to fix it.
Thanks anyways :)

By the way I downloaded all the "Bob's..." mods and thought if someone wants to play and explore it together as when I knew how to craft anything from vanilla and started playing it didn't feel fun enough because I could anticipate what would happen and what I should do.
Now it's all exploratory.

Would you like to join?

Lmtd retro versions are available in the betas tab. Swappin versions this way to suit specific mods will create incompatabilities with others. Latest versions of Factorio dont support older mods. Its the mod creators responsibility (or for someone to get thier permission) to update them.

How Factorios changed a lot, mod updates would be frequently required. Many of us are missin gr8 mods this way. Unfortunately, many mods have been abandoned or just forgot about.

The best advice is to stay with the Devs latest versions to avoid disappointment & therefore wait for new compatable mods to suit thier versions.
