How feasible is it to run lategame setup on the switch?
I am curious how feasible it is to run a lategame map on the switch. Like I get it that it could at the very least run but what happens when you are on a world with so many things going on? Will this suffer the old limitations that console minecraft had (i.e limited world size)? I am excited for this to come to switch but genuinely concerned about how it will go late game.

Well the switch has 4gb of ram. Some of it is reserved for the operating system. And some of it is taken by the gpu to store textures etc because the switch does not have dedicated video ram. So realistically the world has to fit into somewhere around 2gb. Even if the low fps does not end your run that limit will.

From the official statement:

- There are no artificial limitations
- Game runs reasonably well all the way to rocket launch, but won't really support megabases

Everything else is a speculation. More info promised in upcoming Friday Facts.

It all depends on what you call late game I guess.

If it's just the last steps before launching the rocket then even limiting the world size would be fine since you really don't need to expand all that much for the rocket.

On the other hand, if it's the mega factory we are talking about, I doubt the results would be all that good since the switch is weak in terms of hardware.

Wait and see I guess, but I doubt I would buy it there personally.
At least we have known for years that it can be played mostly well with a controller so nothing new there.

That sounds good. I am looking forward to it. I was so happy when they actually sent me an email that it is coming and has been in the works for a while. I checked on the Australian e-shop and so far I am worried since I don't see it yet on the 'Coming Soon' tab.

The megabases is what concerns me. Like will it hinder my fun if we cannot build megabases on the go or not. I do hope they at least make you move your saves around like divinity original sin 2 even if lets say you are about to get to your mega base phase so you can at least continue the save on a pc.

They said it will have crossplay. So you should just be able to host a multiplayer game from the switch and then join from the pc and save on the pc. Considering how strict nintendo is about manipulating data on their systems that will probably be the easiest method.

This exact method was mentioned as a possibility to transfer saves from Switch to PC.

My interpretation is that the game should run just fine unless you're trying to pump up your science per minute. Less than 60spm gets your rocket launched in a reasonable time frame. You don't need 450spm to win the game, but I wouldn't be surprised if the folks who grind for UPS beat expectations. Expect that the the ARM chips have different performance characteristics depending on what the calculation is versus the x86x64 so we're probably going to see different kinds of performance optimizations emerge than are normally used. Will be interesting to see how far it gets pushed.
My saved got so big that it will not load it in anymore. You have to play short burst games. If your map gets to a certain point and has too many items on it. It will corrupt your saved game.

Can you share your experience when the UPS started to dip? Already on your way to the rocket, after having reaching certain spm thresholds, or is it more dependent on how much of the map you discovered?

But that will mean you have to buy the game twice? You can run a factorio server on a PC for free. The PC server will save the game on the PC.

The question was to play it on switch then move the save to PC, that generally means buying a key for both platforms.
