How good is the multiplayer?

I'm playing the demo right now and even though this is a type of game I've never played before I actually liked it a lot. What I'm wondering is if the multiplayer is good because my friends and I are looking for a game that we can play together and I don't want to make them buy something that isn't worth it.

The multiplayer is great. Unless you have unstable ping or packet loss. The game becomes pretty much unplayable in those cases. High ping can also make combat and driving cars and tanks hard or even impossible.

My wife and I play on our LAN and are sometimes joined by a friend in different country that is 2 time zones away. We have played past rocket launch to the beginning of megabase before we run into UPS/connection issues.

I'd recommend having your friends try the demo too. Aside from that, I'd say the quality of multiplayer is highly dependent on the individuals involved. It's a bit like playing with Legos as a kid; you can potentially have a half-dozen all working together, having fun, and creating awesome stuff. . . . Or people that otherwise get along well could end up butting heads and "getting in each other's way."

But if it's a chill group that already likes co-op, there's a good chance you'll get a lot of playtime out of it, especially if you all jump in together with similar levels of experience.
