Control problems
Hey guys, havent played for a while but the controls drive me crazy.
I have selected an item like electric poles. I place two and then want to deselect them to do something else, but i cant.
Nothing does deselct the item.
I pressed right click, i pressed escape, i placed them in the hotbar, it just doesnt work.

Another problem:
I changed inventory to "Tab", "Tab" opens my inventory, but doesnt close it.
I have to use ecape to close my inventory.
What the hell did they do to the games controls? It wasnt that clunky to use last time i played it.

"Q" by default will deselect whatever you are currently holding, and can also select a structure type if you mouse over said structure without anything currently selected. So, for example, if you are holding a power pole but want to quickly select an assembler, mouse over an assembler and press "Q" twice.

Why do you waste our time if you can't even be bothered to play the tutorial which explains the controls? Just get a refund and go back to playing Call of Duty.

Well if you look carefully at the controls then you will find that by default E is bound to two actions: "open character screen" and "confirm window".

"Open character screen" does not close the character screen (that's why it's called "open character screen" instead of "toggle character screen") so you need to close it by pressing the "confirm window" button.

You might not have noticed this because both actions are E by default but obviously things won't work if you forget to change the other key.

Why do you waste your time insulting people on a forum?
Next time get proper education from your parents and go shoot some ducks instead of interacting with human beings.
I played previous versions of the game. I dont need a tutorial telling me 99% of what i already knew besides a few control changes made sometime in one of the updates.
Do you replay game tutorials every time you revisit it?
Its not like all the other games i play are that fricky to control causing somehow this one to be overly weird with some input methods.

At least one person was nice and helpful. 50% is a good rate for steam forums.

Oh, might be worth adding: the Tips and Tricks menu (found as one of the buttons in the top-right) tells you about a lot of handy features without having to play through all of the tutorials. For example, being able to copy-paste recipe selections from one assembler to another without having to open up each one by hand. Also applicable to chest filters, combinators, trains, train stations, etc.

In addition to what has all ready been mentioned. If you played quite a long time ago the tool belt was a separate inventory but its now a hot bar that links to your inventory (and your blue print library if you want to use it that way).

You can place a link to a particular item in your hot bar and it will display how many of that item are currently in your inventory on the hot bar. You can then select an item from your inventory by left clicking on that item in your hot bar and deselect that item by once again left clicking that icon in your hot bar.

Yeah thanks i noticed that too.
Also the way you can now select Blueprint "mode" etc.
Kinda handy but also a bit weirdly overblown compared to the versions i was used to.

Well, time to get used to it i guess. Thanks for the tips and tricks.
