Start up a multiplayer game and set a password for privacy and tell your friend where to look and that password and you're set.
Thank you :). I wasn't sure if we needed some kind of dedicated server or program like hamachi to play. Can't wait to dig in !
If you have public checked then the game will be visible in the browse public games.
If you have steam checked then your friends can just click on your name in steam friends window and click join game.
If you have LAN checked then the game will show up in browse LAN games if you are connected to the same router or have lan emulation software such as hamachi set up.
Even if none of those are checked you can still join by direct ip.
Do note that in some cases you may need to do port forwarding. Using public the game will try to use NAT hole puncing techniques but those are not always reliable. If public is not working for you, you should try the steam join one as that uses steam servers to do some advanced stuff to try and get a connection going. If even that fails then your only option is to do portforwading.
Also a fair warning. This game is a bit sensitive to packet loss. Especially with wifi connections. If you experience a lot of lag and you are using wifi you should try a wired connection if possible.
