Lots of people playing :-) (My community chat is ablaze with new assemblies and designs!)

I played it and I can admire what they have done but ultimately it lacks the depth that Factorio has. Call me biased for my 400h in Factorio if you like ;-) I also think that Satisfactory will have the same performance issues as every other 3D building game. It's comparing apples and oranges really?

Honestly, I am agreeing with rbrucemtl.

Yes, I am playing Factorio again after the trying Satisfactory but for a totally different reason. Instead of passing the time inbetween beta and public release, Satisfactory made me realize just how good factorio was, and for that matter still is. Satisfactory lacks the depth of automation and lacks the tools for it. Placing every item down by yourself on a non-grid basis is not doable on Factorio's scale.

I am afraid that games such as Factorio and Satisfactory do not generally go well together with a 3D world as implemented in Satisfactory. However, I would see a 3d world using some kind of floors/ grid system, where you could possibly use some kind of radar to access it like factorio and place things down using blueprints. There is no real use of building vertically and creating layouts for factories is a pain in the ass when it comes to conveyors and electricity.

I hope Satisfactory will get those improvements and that it will be easier to use. I am looking out to the release and might still give it a go/

One of the issues I had with Satisfactory, was the grid you appeared to make with flooring. It was exceedingly difficult to make stuff line up, things were either the wrong size, or the perspective available did not suit it very well. Not to mention many constructs being bigger than just one section of flooring. I don't actually mind things being bigger than the one, it makes things more interesting when the things you build are different sizes, it just made figuring out how to position stuff that much more of a pain to set just right.

That is my exact philosophy, I'm hoping by the end of the exclusivity agreement the game will have both improved a lot and not be only on that other launcher.

If Satisfactory appears on Steam, I'd add it to my wish list and keep an eye on its progress. But I don't see a good enough reason to sign up at Epic Store where they're lacking open reviews and discussions thru customers as if Epic Store is trying to control any information or truth in regards of their products or the store itself under their instant money grabbing schemes.

That's another point, I'm not quite willing to add another launcher to my computer for just one game. I hope the developers choose (or are allowed to, not sure) to spread out to multiple platforms after the end of the agreement.

Satisfactory weekend
I noticed that their website had started redirecting to some kind of internal error page the last time I had a look so I missed this event entirely. Oh well.

I totally agree. I also played it during the weekend and Factorio is *far* more complete, comprehensive and mature than Satisfactory.

I don't expect to play Satisfactory for at least a year or two, if ever.

If anything trying out Satisfactory made me return to Factorio after a detour playing other games. Their Alpha and Early Release approach and pricing alienated many that signed up for Alpha and then exposed how poorly it compares to Factorio. They really bungled it.

Play them both, geez.

I can understand if folks can't drop $30, but I just cannot understand this kind of brand loyalty.

As for Satisfactory, people act like there was never a Factorio 0.1.0 - FIVE years ago.

You guys are not comparing it the right way....

You need to compare it to the very first playable factorio version, since it's what Satisfactory is after all.

Factorio had YEARS of improvements while Satisfactory is not even *born* yet.

AKA it will take years before Satisfactory can hope to match factorio.

Satisfactory got good potential, it could surpass factorio someday.
It will take time however, like i said above.

I would love to see the computer that could handle a decent sized Factorio factory in Satisfactory without turning the CPU/GPU into slag, melting the computer trying to run it.

Yeah i don't think you could ever build a *Mega factory* like you could in factorio.
It's still gonna feel big given the trailer.

Still, i don't think i'm getting it anytime soon.

Also i don't think my computer can handle it anyway, id need to get a new one this year since upgrading alone won't be efficient since most parts needs to be upgraded at this point.
(It's over 6 year old at this point but man it served me well.)

It is not brand loyalty, it is not even not being able to drop the $30. Heck it isn't even about comparing Factorio 0.1 to Satisfactory 0.1.

It is a matter of what you get for those $30. For $30 you get a 5 year mature Factorio with lots of functionality, fixed bugs and very well thought out product. That sets a level of expectation for what you should get for a $30 game of this genre.

When Satisfactory asked for those same $30 and delivers a very unsatisfying 0.1 version they set the bar and failed to meet it. That is why we are so critical. We might have been far more tolerant if the Early Access price had been $1 or even $5 - on par with what they delivered - or if they had a much longer open Alpha that lasted until the product reached a level of maturity that deserved the $30. They dug their own grave.
