Too much coal?
My base is solar powered, so I don't really need coal, but, there's, SO, MUCHHHH

I have hundreds of chests of coal, and idk what to do with it! D:

Anyone else have this issue? idk, maybe I can turn it into oil, but I already have enough oil! And not much coal is needed to make plastic.

don't mine it and build over deposits like if they don't exist

Grenades need coal :)

Coal is needed in large amounts for military tech.

Coal is also used in smaller amounts for plastics, which is required in all science recepies except the first 2.

I don't burn any coal, but I find it pretty balanced. The most compact way to store ore is in the ground. It isn't going anywhere.

Later, there is also an option to use coal in oil refineries to make oil without using the oil-deposits

4 uses for Coal.... Grenades, Explosives, Plastics and Coal Liquification. Grenades are for Military Science, Cliff Explosives and Cluster Grenades. Explosives are for Cliff Explosives, Rocket (weapon ammo), Explosive Rockets, Atomic Bomb, Cannon Shells, Explosive Cannon Shells, Landmines, Cluster Grenades and Artillery Shells. Plastic is for Red Circuits, Explosive Cannon Shells and Low Density Structure. Coal Liquification is another way to get your oil byproducts, as long as you keep supplying enough Heavy Oil back into the refineries.

I use Coal Liquification as my source to making Lube (from Heavy not used to resupply next cycle), Solid Fuel (from Light) and Sulfur (from the Petroleum). Other option is to just crack everything into Petro after Heavy resupply amount. There are numerous combinations you can use the oils gotten from a Coal Liquification setup, it's just a matter of deciding for yourself which you wanna do, if you decide you use your excess Coal this way.

*Edit* Coal is also used in the Poison and Slow Capsules, if you choose to use them.

That depends upon how much plastic you need. If you just want to do research, launch the rocket and call it "done", you'll have plenty of spare coal once you move to nuclear power (or masses of solars).

If your endgame is building a megabase to launch rockets (or do research) as quickly as possible, you'll end up going from using 4 blue belts of coal for plastic to moving plastic production to a separate sub-factory because trains are the only practical way to move that much coal.

As always: having enough of anything means that your factory should be bigger.

grenades need coal. those trees have got to go,

Thanks for the advice!
Military science might be a good idea!

And I know it's easiest to build over deposits, but I'm trying to clearcut this world.
So many times I've build an efficient facotry, measure production, and created a well oiled machine! But... What if I just kill, Everything?? What if I just expand mt base, forever? I'll consume and store All ore, and create an inpenitrable defenseive wall, and this can all be done using small and easily managed factory lines.

Ths time I'm just having fun taking over, and it's just started to seem weird how much coal I've collected.
You can turn coal into oil ....
Furry Eskimo Apr 18, 2018 @ 10:35pm
Yes, but in the OP I say that I don't need more oil, so converting it won't get rid of this extra stoclpile unless I do something special and prioritize coal oil over regular oil.

You could go to your coal chests and shoot them. Hundreds of chests. You don't need that much Coal.

I understand your problem. When going for World strip mining project, it's sacrilege to waste anythng unnecessarily, if at all.

Maybe just use it for power then?
Odeum Apr 19, 2018 @ 5:33am
Use grenades?
Hedning Apr 19, 2018 @ 5:39am
You can turn all of it into grenades to compact it by a factor of 20 (a chest of coal is only 2.4 stacks of grenades). Since grenades are used in military science there is no waste.
