Try to avoid putting two things on one belt, or use filter function of splitters that was recently added to split it into two belts.
- Inserters insert to far side of the belt if placed to side
- Inserters insert to right side of the belt if placed to start/end of belt*
*)right side of the belt relative to the direction belt is moving.
- Filter inserter takes only the item what you want from the belt.
- Inserters can not insert directly to near side of belt, but you can use simple belt designs and/or splitters to get the item to the side you want. Usually single extra piece of belt in front of inserter is enough. Part of the fun is figuring out some creative method what suits your needs best.
like i saw someone mention underground belts, did you know you could have 2 different tiears of underground belt overlapping? if you use say a yellow and a red one in the same line of tiles they wont connect to eachother, but they will connect to only ones of the same color. this can be used in lots of interesting ways to compact a factory chains feed system. as well as reduce the amount of spagetti in the design.
