Streaming this game on Facebook
Does Facebook have something against Factorio or against the game developers that i'm not aware of?

I began streaming Factorio a couple of months ago. during one of my streams of it I receive a copyright notice claiming the background music of this game claim by some company.

And so, I compromise and turn off the in-game background music of the game and continue to stream thus playing on stream with no background music from the game.

And then a couple of streams later, some company claim it.... again. there's no background music from the game but they claim the sound effects coming from the machines which is really ridiculous. Then I compromise, again. I now turned off the desktop audio entirely of the streamlabs that I'm using for this game...

Now I stream it with almost complete silence, just my commentary.... but someone claim it again, WTF. Now I sent a dispute to tell them they're crazy in a way for claiming rights on a silent game. Eventually won the dispute and move on.

As I review the silent streams I made, it somehow got dull because there's no music. Now, I've done research and there's a site where you can get free stock music you can play on your streams without anyone would be claiming for rights unless you did not cite the sources of the free stock music you're using. And with this, I use this also on other games that streaming and it works perfectly well.

And now guess what happened? now warner music claims copyright on my factorio stream(and not on other games). With that, I again sent a dispute to claim for fair use.

Really, Facebook?

Ask Facebook for a clarification on the source. If it's not Wube you are fine. Considering the amount of streams and videos on Twitch and Youtube I think you have some sort of trouble maker.

A few months ago one of the Factorio devs posted something that the Twitterati decided was offensive to them and they tried to cancel him. He refused to back down and the attempt at cancellation failed spectacularly and so they have been seething with anger in the background and false flagging Factorio live streams and videos on all platforms.

The best advice is to post your streams on a service that is less likely to let a false flag hit you without the streaming platform doing their due diligence first or you have to keep disputing the false claims.

It's unfortunately going to just be people trying to make easy money by betting on you being too lazy to contest a claim. For some sites like YT it can be exceedingly common.

Atleast pretend to give an honest approximation of events. "Twitterati" lmao.

I see. So it still points here.

So yeah. I'm disputing it as much as I can.

So glad I've never once used facebook: never had an account, never seen a single facebook page or whatever they call it. Nothing but bad vibes from that site. Really seems like a nightmare inside a cesspool wrapped in a rotting whale carcass.

Perhaps do your streams elsewhere?

That was completely honest. If you look around the web you will find stats that tell you that only 25% of people that use social media use Twitter. 75% of the users lean left politically and of the people using Twitter 90% of the posts are made by 10% of the users. The cancel culture swarm arising from that anti-social media platform can accurately be called the Twitterati in the same way that freelance photographers swarming celebrities are called the paparazzi.

I was streaming on YouTube and I had claims on in game soundtracks.. But silent game?😐 insane

Unfortunately there's ALSO a scummy practise going around on both FB and YT where the company/person claiming the rights will actually get the monetisation on the claimed vid. As a result there are a lot of claims that are simply there for the rights to the click revenue and because 90% don't dispute they're getting away with it....

Unfair use of the DMCA should be punishable for fraud imho....

Doesn't take away the fact both YT and FB have become a breeding ground for all kinds of corrupt and moneyhungering practises

I am not a lawyer but I remember a lawyer saying that sending a DMCA notice on something you or a person you are representing do not have the copyrights on knowingly is considered perjury. So it is punishable as much more severe crime than fraud. However youtube and facebook copyright claims are not DMCA and thus are not punishable. Legally speaking youtube and facebook claims are not even copyright claims. They are just things youtube and facebook made up and big companies agreed to use instead of suing everybody.

The big Factorio streamers like Nilaus have more than a dozen seasons of Factorio so you should not dismiss the possibility of starting a 2nd playthrough out of hand.

I was referring to your incredibly biased presentation of events. Kovarex created that situation in endorsing Uncle Bob, who's well documented for pretty sexist & racist comment history. I don't really care one way or the other at this point, its old news, but you could atleast present the situation more honestly. Trying to present it as some utterly one sided nonsense is unproductive and reeks of redaction.

Cheers.

Kovarex was creating no nothing and was not endorsing no nothing ... go away and take your cancel culture with you ... see ya whenever I care to create a FB account again ... which will be never ;)

When I first heard of the whole situation. I couldn't believe it.

So I went and researched how the whole thing started. Turn out I already read the blog that started it all and didn't come to the same conclusion.

Turn out a selective few people were mixing "how to write better software" blog with a charged political statement and tried to blew up the controversy beyond what it is.

A blog about how to write a better software is just exactly that a "how to write a better software" blog.
