They move and migrate to create new nests whithout being visible.
As I know, the bitters *active* if player close to them or they under pollution cloud, but they freeze if the player is far away (the chunk is not loaded?).
In modded game (and im sure, it not about modding, its about drawing distance) if you have any upgrades for radar and you can see much further, you will see problem when biters fully frozen, if player far away. This is perfectly visible if the player has remote bases and long railroad tracks on long distances.
I have plenty of radar extending mods but you end up with biters still being frozen outside of a certain range....regardless of it being ugly or not it's a case over functionality rather than looks.
And if you don't believe that...feel free to run a Auto-tracker setup with AAI mod.... a single one of those will slow down your game to a crawl.
